which i think is what trips many "it's not fascism!!" commentators up. they are trying, but they have not succeeded. i think it is bad enough that they are trying. that alone is worth fighting.

Wild how people like this, just like russians, still can’t comprehend that the Revolution of Dignity wasn’t staged. It was Ukrainians choosing freedom over fear. Imperialists and small minds always assume someone else must be pulling the strings, because they’ve never seen a nation with a spine.

incredible to see the U.S. right echoing the Chinese Communist Party.

It’s wild how the press is ok with the president abusing the pardon power. That used to be one of the most scrutinized things about a presidency.

Anyone who treats violence perpetrated by the state as a joke should be nowhere near decisions regarding the use of force.

and if you can’t run on that then for fuck’s sake get out of the way and let someone run who can
The president is a political cartoon of corruption come to life, a gaudy grifter who is selling off pardons and lining his pockets, building a golden ballroom and protecting his fellow sex predator elites, all the while regular Americans are suffering and struggling to make ends meet.

Run on *that*

KARL: Did you know about the judge's order when you issued your order for the planes to continue?

KRISTI NOEM: This is an activist judge. We comply with all federal orders that are lawful and binding.

Congratulations to everyone whose votes or apathy aligned them with shit like this.
Imagine being so far gone into Trumpism/Republicanism that you would say this to someone who was shot in the head in an act of political violence.
MAGA legal world, man…

Gorsuch and Grassley should be so proud.

The issue is not who the two survivors were affiliated with, but their status at the moment force was used. Under the laws of armed conflict, status of mortality and status of incapacitation determine whether a person is a lawful target.

An official government account using the word “remigration” is not normal. It’s an imported term from European far-right movements that refers to mass expulsion. Democracies do not use population-purification language. #holdfast #SteadyState

The most important things to know about the murder at sea policy and the pardon of the Honduran President/Drug Trafficker is that Donald Trump almost certainly raped middle schoolers with his buddy Geoffrey Epstein.

Yup. It's called leadership.
Mark Kelly: "My concern is with the service members -- we're gonna put these individuals in a really tough place. They may find our down the road that they did something that's illegal. It's not fair to them. That's why need presidents and secretaries of defense who understand the Constitution"

Trump is invading American cities to nominally address crime, and I think the scale of his pardon-sprees should be given more political salience
When this criminal was jailed, the judge told David Gentile and America: ‘This is a warning to would-be fraudsters that seeking to get rich by taking advantage of investors gets you only a one-way ticket to jail.’ I guess not

I like how they didn’t fall into “Department of War” cargo cultism on Capitol Hill.

It’s going to look absolutely ridiculous in hindsight and better haters than me should be screencapping people’s LinkedIn posts celebrating the absurdity.
Now Senate Armed Services Committee and House Armed Services Committee - vow "vigorous oversight" and "full accounting" of Secretary Hegseth's alleged "kill them all" order and double-strike operation.

Also if anything is a "start the clock" moment on pete's tenure coming to an end, it's this
There are now bipartisan investigations in both the House and Senate into the administration targeting and killing people in the Caribbean without due process.

Unfortunately, in US journalism it is considered neutral to spread a lie, but it is considered "biased" to call out a lie. So, there is a structural asymmetry that rewards colorful lies with virality.

As his approval sinks, Trump will turn to the emotion from which his power derives: fear.

Fear closes us off from each other, weakens what is our strength, deprives us of our future and only serves to secure his.

The antidote is hope. An autocrat cannot defeat a hopeful people. Hold fast to it.

For those who don’t know, Jack served in the Bush administration but resigned in protest of the extra constitutional claims made by the administration. He’s no left wing radical, but he care about the Constitution.

He has forgotten more about executive power than I could ever hope to learn.
Harvard Law School’s Jack Goldsmith:

“In short, if the Post’s facts are correct, it appears that Special Operations Forces committed murder when the ‘two men were blown apart in the water, as the Post put it.’”
