There are a couple of silver linings. If Republicans backtrack on their ACA deal, they can’t use SNAP as a bargaining chip next time a shutdown looms in January. And Trump would have to bring back everyone he laid off under that excuse.

Even if this “deal” passes, healthcare costs will still soar. I doubt the GOP will act in good faith on the ACA in December. It's good the government might reopen, but rising medical costs won’t be on Democrats who tried to prevent it.

Notice how GOP leadership keeps shifting the narrative? First they dropped SNAP after it became clear Trump is blocking it. Now, after rejecting a fair offer from Democrats, they’re trying to convince Americans they don’t need healthcare.

This is going nowhere. The House is out of session with no plans to return soon, probably because of the Epstein files. The only CR they passed expires in a couple weeks anyway, and spending bills have to start in the House. This looks like chaos by design.
