I'm surprised more western devs didn't embrace the 640*480*16 style of graphics.
The parallel world PC-9801 release of Lands of Lore, published by that prolific importer of western games, Starcraft.
It has such a surreal feel to it that's giving me uncanny valley with the desaturated colours, sharpness of some of the pixels, and the subtle tweaks to the character portraits.

Effective Altruist Christmas Carol where Ebenezer Scrooge keeps hoarding his wealth, and invests it in Ghost Safety research. What if someone used the Ghost of Christmas Future to bring futuristic weapons technology to the 19th century? That's a much bigger civilisational risk than a boy's limp.

When a man hijacked a bus in Hamilton, Ontario, on Tuesday, the potentially catastrophic scenario ended happily. It turns out he was a pretty decent bus driver. He made regular stops to pick up passengers, the police reported. At one point someone tried to board with an expired bus pass. No dice.

The incident in Hamilton, Ontario, ended safely with an arrest and no injuries (and all fares paid).
