If Keir starmer really wants to prove he’s not antisemitic he’ll riot with Maccabi Tel Aviv. Anything less he may as well be Hamas.

Italy was on strike in solidarity with Palestinians last Monday.
Hundreds of thousands demonstrated blocking roads, ports & railway stations. In Rome, many drivers found themselves stuck in traffic — & were happy about it, saluting demonstrators & condemning Israel’s genocide against Palestinians.

Elbit, the Israeli company that was Palestine Action's primary target, is close to winning a £2bn MoD contract to train British soldiers. The idea that as genocide continues it's "business as usual" is why thousands plan to shut down the DSEi arms fair on 9 Sept www.middleeasteye.net/news/uk-clos...

Burning down the post war international order so Israel can have its genocide and long awaited ethnic cleansing of Palestine. Well done everyone.
In December 2024, five months after an initial warning from Dutch intelligence, Lieutenant Cayley, a former military prosecutor, received a direct threat:

"I was directly threatened, and I was told that I was an enemy of the state of Israel and I needed to watch my back."

All of this. It sucks that a couple of the independent MPs have shitty views, but the model of the party is that the platform will be decided by members, not by them. If they are prepared to submit to a platform that contradicts their shitty views on this, I can live with that.
This is almost certainly coming from a position of privilege but I'm willing to wait on the new party forming and holding a conference before I write them off as transphobic.

At least 50% of Green MPs are transphobic but they're still given the benefit of the doubt when it comes to Polanski.

I live in one of the places that has been suggested as his destination, and the WhatsApp groups are buzzing with people ready to respond to any public sighting by going down and calling him a cunt. We've already had one false alarm!
Counterpoint: no, it isn't.

Bob Vylan and Kneecap are facing more consequences in the UK and US for speaking out against genocide than anyone responsible for committing it.

IDF soldiers or Benjamin Netanyahu are not banned from entering either country

You’d think someone might ask why distributing aid in Gaza has proceeded like the opening twenty minutes of Saving Private Ryan, every day, for weeks. Is it normal to fire machine guns at starving civilians trying to collect flour? Because we are currently at one, two or three massacres *per day*.

Liberals fear that if people act unruly, Trump will be able to impose totalitarian control.

That gets things backwards. Trump is already imposing totalitarian control. That's what is driving people into the streets.

It's too late to avoid this fight.

We can be passive and lose—or give it our all.
It's Safer in the Front
Faced with intensifying repression and state violence, there is an understandable inclination to seek safety by avoiding confrontation. But this is not always the most effective strategy.

this was, of course, always how copyright operated. it was about an accumulation of the creative commons, so capital was always allowed to use intellectual property, and the legal copyright fights now are fights amongst the capitalists on who can use it how. it doesn't matter which capitalists win.
I think a lot about how Aaron Swartz committed suicide while facing a probably long jail sentence for download some of JSTOR, but no one at Meta is going to face any repercussions for using all of Libgen to train its AI.
Someone else said something very similar to this the other day, but.

It really burns me that our (millennials') generation was legally terrorized for like, downloading Radiohead discographies

But we're supposed to be ok with billionaires stealing human intellectual output in its entirety bc AI
