Bloody hell. I agree with Duncan...
What's fascinating here is that as she rhymes off the list of gender critical people at Newsnight pursuing an explicitly gender critical agenda, in the context of a discussion of ideological capture at the BBC, she doesn't recognise that she was part of the ideological capture of the BBC by GCs.

"Take the phone away" is the first item on the list of action recommended by anti-trans parents' orgs.
Do you not think it's bizarre to have strangers on the internet decide they know better than Brianna's own loved ones on what is or isn't insulting to her memory?

I've got no time for Rosie Duffield, but she turned up at a drop-in event in Parliament and that's been the limit of her involvement.

The News Agents is a great case study of centrism because they actively describe how the sausage is made and yet none of their audience say 'Wait - what the fuck do you mean you ran a story because some Labour spad told you to?'

The narrative put forward by Maitliss is the one you're likely to have heard.
But that isn't what really happened.
The kids lost their care. Some took their own lives. Nobody was 'saved'.
There is no 'trans ideology', just people who needed help.

i stopped paying attention to the bbc after they published a conspiracy theory about trans women raping lesbians.

their 1 source was a sex predator who wrote a manifesto stating trans men should be correctively raped and trans women should be lynched

they still have not retracted or apologised
It’s so difficult to say what “the news” is these days: newspapers and front pages seem largely irrelevant, the BBC is ignored or castigated by so many, and social media is so siloed that “current affairs” seems to exist in multiple separate iterations

All you need to know.

Sonia Sodha, Emily Maitlis, Helen Joyce and Hannah Barnes have all had their say in the media in the last 24 hours.
How many trans people have the BBC had on this week discussing the BBC's pro-trans bias?

Zero.

This is all extremely shady, but also: the former *governance lead* at OpenAI? The company that consistently utterly fails with any kind of governance framework? On top of any other horrible corruption going on, Leung is clearly utterly incompetent.
There’s a good chance the British Prime Minister’s main adviser on AI is an OpenAI shareholder - but the government refuses to say whether she is.

In the last decade, the BBC has legitimised climate change denialism, paved the way for Brexit, defended the coup that was prorogation, over-platformed Farage's Far Right projects, and is neutral on our abandonment of human rights norms.

What is this 'good' it supposedly does?

Personally I'd be pleased to see BBC News disappear entirely. To argue, as many do, that British politics or our news environment would be so much worse without the BBC you have to explain why British politics and news environment is so very bad with the BBC.

I think there's an argument that the BBC being perceived as biased towards the left (clearly it fucking isn't) allows it to do far more damage than any of the widely recognised as right wing media sources.

It is deeply insulting to Brianna Ghey's memory to pretend that a campaign backed by the likes of Rosie Duffield is doing anything to help children like her.

We've seen her reaction to a trans person discussing their suicidal ideation.
When Rosie Duffield is in on it I think we can safely say the anti-phone campaign in Brianna's name is actively at odds with tackling transphobia

i think the most sick thing about govt going all in on Esther's phone shit after her daughter was murdered in a crime which had not nothing to do with phones

... is that I spoke to Brianna's friends. On Tiktok. They were everything to her - you want to take that away from other kids like Brianna?

It's actually worse than this - Prescott tried to argue that the BBC had inappropriately hidden the fact that a Trans woman in pro wrestling had been part of storylines where she "won" trophies against other women - a fictional sport he treated as if it was real.
It was instructive to see that the Prescott memo argued at one point for completely the opposite: that enabling trans voices even as counterbalance to GC dogma is not legitimate, based on a spurious analogy with maternity care.

Yes, "pregnant people" is inclusive language that describes pregnant cis women AS WELL AS trans men and nonbinary people, a lot of whom can get pregnant. But it also describes, like, 12-year-old girls who get pregnant. Do centrist pig-dogs think THEY are "women" too? Coz...bit of a red flag, that.

There is a (in my view, deliberate) overemphasis of Hannah Arendt’s remarks about the ‘banality of evil’ and regular people doing evil things versus a more urgent point she makes about the farce of trying to locate the evils of the Final Solution in the body of one man because Nazism was structural.

Elon is such a hollow man he steals memes.

I don't mean he reposts memes, we all do that.

He STEALS memes, and presents them as his own, cutting off the creators names if they're there or never reposting the original.

Infamous for that.

Sad.

In Britain, it is now 100% acceptable to label Palestinian existence as "Jew Hate".

I thank my MP @stellacreasy.bsky.social and the Labour party for diligently working to completely invert racism into antiracism and to redefine Jewishness as a mandatory white supremacy that will lead to fascism.🎉

If we're talking about bias, why do BBC politics programmes, from Politics Live to the Laura Kuennsberg Show, still always begin with a look at the newspaper front pages, which are overwhelmingly biased in one direction. Helps frame the entire news agenda and debate in their favour
