Some wonderful replies to this. Thank you to both those who participated and those who put up with it On their timelines.
Merry gentlefolk, it is time.

Today is the day.

Today is comma-mas.

Today is the day where we contemplate the correct placing of the comma in 'God rest you merry, gentlemen'.

And if we are lucky, we can have a row about it.

the last time Kylie Minogue was at number one in the UK singles chart:

- Ed Miliband was not yet an MP
- England had never won the rugby World Cup
- Arsenal were a third of the way through their Invincibles season
- Keir Starmer was the lawyer for an Iraq War protester who broke into an RAF base

Some things haven’t changed though, and that’s North Shropshire being overlooked by Westminster. I’ve been immensely proud to serve as your MP and will continue to stand up for the things that matter most to you.

Thank you.

It’s hard to believe it was four years ago this week that we had the North Shropshire by-election. So much has changed in that time – not least the four prime ministers, five chancellors and five health secretaries…

You're going to laugh when I say I'm starting to take notes for a post on "what to expect from the JD Vance presidency" so that I can roll it out immediately when it's needed, and then you're going to think about it and you're going to stop laughing.

Same when I point out issues with immigration policies.

I do not for a second think that posting on social media changes policy. That's what my actual job offline is focused on, not spectacularly successfully right now I admit.
NB: When I, a professor of law, profess that an act is unlawful, I am not doing it to inform the lawbreaker, but rather to inform you, the reader.

So the question “what, like you think he cares?” is inapposite. The question is whether *you* care. I think you should, which is why I bother.

This is how Russia continually normalizes escalation because no one actually steps up and puts a stop to it.

This quickly becomes “little green men” if these acts of aggression are left unchecked.

this is bang on. Why would you continue to use a slogan that people actively beg you not to use?
I don’t support criminalising slogans, except when they’re directly used to harass or intimidate.

But I think it’s a profound moral (and tactical) failure that campaigners didn’t stop using them long ago.

Remember when HS2 to Leeds was cancelled by the NIC's shitty maths and fundamental lack of expertise, and Leeds was thrown the bone of "you'll get trams" and I said those would never be delivered?

Yeah, as I was saying...

Rejoining Erasmus is a real opportunity to start repairing the disastrous Conservative Brexit deal.

However it must be a first step on a clear roadmap to a closer relationship with Europe. Starting with negotiating a bespoke UK-EU customs union, and committing to a youth mobility scheme.

How can you have a review of foreign interference in elections without, you know, reviewing past elections? Who wants a review of a film you haven’t seen yet??
LibDem Calum Miller, "Will the review look back.. Including the 2014 and 2016 Referendums?"

Steve Reed, "It will be forward looking, there will be no relitigating of previous elections or referendum"

"There have been no findings that any elections to date were affected by foreign interference"
