📣HOW TO GET IN TOUCH📣
I’m afraid I can’t deal with casework over social media, but if you live in North Shropshire my contact details are here.
Jean is 88. She wrote to me to say she feels completely isolated after seeing essential rural services decline. How can we justify leaving vulnerable people isolated in this way in 2026?

Ahead of the launch of the Government's National Cancer Plan, I added my name to Cancer Research UK's campaign calling for that plan to be bold, fully-funded and deliver consistently improved performance.

When it comes to court delays, the West Mercia area is the second worst for the time it takes cases to get through the crown court, often taking a shocking two years to be heard.

➡️ Military accommodation in Shropshire - and across the country - is still not up to standard.

⬆️ Upgrades are long overdue and must be prioritised.

➡️It should not be too much to ask that forces accommodation has a reliable water supply.

We were promised 'lightning fast' broadband, but the Project Gigabit rollout in North Shropshire has been a shambles.

The Government must now prioritise those areas that have been badly let down.

Earlier this week I spoke with @HarperAdams University and the dairy company Arla, looking at workforce issues in the food and farming sector.

The event explored how to attract more people into the sector, particularly people from non-traditional farming backgrounds.

The Chancellor is attempting to pick winners and losers with a half-baked Business Rates relief package.

We need an emergency VAT cut now to protect the whole hospitality sector and save the High Street.

The 340 Market Drayton to Whitchurch bus service was officially launched today. I've wanted to see this running for a long time so am delighted it finally is. Access to convenient, frequent and affordable buses is vital for education, employment and quality of life, particularly in rural areas.

The Conservatives are making it crystal clear that they are purposely leaving sensible centrists out in the cold.

Only the Liberal Democrats are offering a realistic alternative to the two parties of old, and the populist fantasists on the extremes. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Today presents an important opportunity for people to reflect on the darkest times of European history, to remember the six million Jewish men, women and children who were murdered in the Holocaust and speak out against all forms of antisemitism.

It's time to get serious about funding defence.

Everyone is saying we 'must do more' but it's all talk.

Our plan to issue bonds for funding defence will raise £20bn and give our allies the reassurance that Britain is serious about defending Europe.

I spoke in Parliament with midwives with frontline experience and was grateful to hear about the work they do.

Safe maternity staffing is an issue I am particularly concerned about and it was good to discuss this, and the Royal College of Midwives campaign.

Hospitality businesses are rightly concerned about the Government's Business Rates proposals. I heard from Vicky Colclough of Joule's Brewery the very real impact of the Chancellor's lack of support for pubs. These damaging proposals need to be reversed now - and pubs need to know where they stand.

The ECO 4 scheme left people out of pocket and with damage to their homes. It was good to hear the Secretary of State commit to reparations for them. He also made a commitment to avoid the same things happening with the Warm Homes Plan, and I hope that's the case.

Maternity and neonatal care failings in Shropshire are well documented - many families have already come forward to tell harrowing stories. If you’ve wanted to share the details of your experience but have not yet done so, the National Maternity and Neonatal Investigation is calling for evidence.

I'll be telling Minister Hendy why he's got his facts wrong, why Whitchurch station needs step-free access, and why this decision is a disgrace.

"What was it about losing the Tory leadership contest that helped you realise that the Tories had broken Britain?"

The Conservatives took farming communities for granted, with botched trade deals and an unfair transition from the old basic payment system to the environment management scheme. But Labour has shown it does not understand rural communities whatsoever.

Good to hear recognition from the Prime Minister that Sandra's experience was unacceptable. But, after the worst year on record for people waiting more than 12hrs to be admitted to A&E, there are so many more cases like Sandra's. Let's end all 12hr A&E waits. Sign the petition below.

Mandatory digital IDs were always a bad idea - finally the Government has backtracked. This un-British idea risked eroding long-held civil liberties, doing little to address Gov’s stated aims of immigration enforcement, with a £1billion+ price tag – money much better spent fixing our broken NHS.

Sandra endured over 30 hours on a plastic chair in A&E, while ambulances filled the car park. 2025 was the worst year on record for patients waiting longer than 12 hours to be seen. We need a legal guarantee that this will end and patients can start to receive the care they expect, and deserve.
