Thanks to The Times for highlighting Savannah’s story and the critical issue that there is no specialist NHS service for very severe ME. Grateful to Ashley Dalton for our recent brief call but still waiting for progress report re ME Plan commitment to explore such a service, including treatments.

Quite proud of my ‘first place’ in the Guests’ Race at Litton Pancake Races in the village hall this morning. To be fair, there were only two of us!
Thank you to Litton villagers for being such good sports, and for raising an amazing £220 for Wells’ Food Bank.

Launching 'A Personal Sentence', letters by women with ADHD, brought together powerful lived experiences from neurodiverse women who've been in contact w/ the criminal justice system.

We need to recognise we all learn in different ways, & adapt our systems to give everyone a real chance to succeed

Savannah Victora-May has been in hospital for 11 months with severe ME; a dearth of specialist treatment has contributed to her situation.

The Govt’s Final Delivery Plan committed to exploring a specialised service for very severe ME. *What* is happening to prevent more cases such as Savannah’s?

On World Cancer Day, I’m proud to support work to ensure that everyone with cancer can access the treatment and support they need in a timely way.

I've long wanted that across the NHS, the most up to date Radiotherapy machines are available to all. I’ll continue to press the Government on this.

The United Kingdom is at its best when we’re true to our values: tolerance, decency, respect for individual freedom and the rule of law.

We can't let Nigel Farage throw that all away by turning Britain into Trump’s America.

Choose a brighter future with the Liberal Democrats.

On this Holocaust Memorial Day, we mark 81 years since the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau camp.

I honour the memory of the millions who lost their lives in this atrocity.

May we remember them, work to stop such horrors from being repeated, and build a peaceful, unified and compassionate future.

We desperately need good data to make the case for ME to government. The Big Survey - designed with #pwME for #pwME will be a great help. If you've got ME or ME-like symptoms as part of long Covid, do consider taking part. But, remember that the Big Survey closes tomorrow, Tuesday. 👍🏾
⌛ The Big Survey closes tomorrow!

Your responses directly shape our work and help us to illustrate the impact of ME. If you're thinking about taking part, please do.

Bleadon Sluice has been broken since 2009!! I’m determined to see it better and fixed!

Good to see LibDem leader Ed Davey speaking out so firmly and clearly on President Trump’s behaviour over Greenland. Looking now to see that the government stands firm with our European allies.
Trump is acting like an international gangster.

The Prime Minister has tried appeasing him for 12 months and has failed. It's time we finally stood up to him and united with our European allies to make him back down.

Honoured to be elected as Chair of the APPG ME today. I’m grateful to have @JoPlatt.bsky.social continue to serve as an officer, facilitating continued coordination with the APPG Long COVID, and the support of @actionforme.bsky.social and @meassociation.org.uk through providing the Secretariat.

Deeply concerned at the Israeli government’s threat to shut down vital humanitarian work by 37 international NGOs in Gaza and West Bank. Grateful to @simonforstroud.bsky.social for coordinating this cross-party letter to the Foreign Secretary, and happy to sign.
I’ve coordinated a cross-party letter signed by 104 MPs urging the Foreign Secretary to use every lever possible to stop proposals that would shut down 37 international NGOs in Gaza and the West Bank — including Médecins Sans Frontières, ActionAid, and the Norwegian Refugee Council. (1/3)

It's now clear that this was never about the interests of the Venezuelan people or the wider world. This is Trump serving his own interests and ego, making the world far more dangerous in the process. Starmer must convene the UN Security Council to hold Trump to account.

Keir Starmer should condemn Trump’s illegal action in Venezuela.

Maduro is a brutal and illegitimate dictator, but unlawful attacks like this make us all less safe.

Trump is giving a green light to the likes of Putin and Xi to attack other countries with impunity.

It reminds us that if we stand together in tough times, we can overcome anything.

I’ve been proud to stand with Somerset farmers to protest against the family farm tax.

Today’s announcement that the threshold will be raised from £1m to £2.5m is welcome progress. But the tax must still be scrapped. With LibDem colleagues I’ll continue to fight for this.

The decades long neglect of #pwME is a great injustice and we are all poorer for it. I’m proud to be one of the 72 LibDem MPs who have fought to address this. And I know that I’m not alone in committing to continuing the fight to see real change in 2026.
December 22nd. Thank you for being #ThereForME, Sir Ed Davey & the Lib Dems @libdems.org.uk!

This year the LibDems have been key players championing the need for improved support for people with ME in parliament. Nominated by Jonah Weisz @weiszguy.bsky.social

My reflections after today’s APPG ME meeting….

‘As we look to 2026, it’s clear that there’s plenty that needs MPs’ engagement. Across the ME community there’s so much shared lived experience and analysis to inform the work that we do. So, let’s get on with it! Let’s all work together next year!

Pleased to support my colleague Al Pinkerton's UK-EU Customs Union Bill. A new customs union would provide a genuine opportunity for growth, through a bespoke trade deal with the EU - hugely benefiting trade in the South West - and my colleagues and I will continue to campaign for this.

Next Wednesday’s APPG ME meeting will focus on what members could do to promote two key issues:
1. Provision of specialist services for v severe ME
2. Better research funding.

Hoping that MPs will respond to constituents’ concerns and turn out as they did for the debate on ME. Nudges welcome 😉.
