Southill Solar gets it right: work with locals, deliver local benefit. Botley West is vast, with weak engagement and thin benefit.

The Planning Inspectorate called missing info “very disappointing”. With the Secretary of State now deciding, these concerns must be weighed.

Wishing a very happy new year to Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese communities in the UK and to everyone who is celebrating the Lunar New Year.

May it be a time of joy and celebration for you and your family.

Last week, I attended Kinship’s reception in Parliament to hear directly from kinship carers about the vital role they play, and the gaps in support they still face.

The Government’s parental leave review must finally address paid kinship care leave. #KinshipCarers #ValueOurLove

I support solar and the need to move fast on clean energy. But Botley West is a test of whether communities are genuinely heard. Serious questions on transparency, delivery and community benefit still have no answers. That is not good enough.

The level of violence towards Jewish communities is intolerable. No faith group should have to put trained security staff in place simply to worship. We must all work to counter anti-Jewish hate.

The PM argued he could change outcomes for Jimmy Lai and Hong Kongers by speaking softly with President Xi. He failed spectacularly. He must summon the Chinese Ambassador today - and demand Jimmy Lai's immediate release and the quashing of this sentence.

We need to know how the Government plans to deal with Iran - and with Donald Trump’s plans for Iran. @jamesmaccleary.bsky.social
and I have written to the Defence and Foreign Secretaries today asking them to hold Iran’s leaders to account and to tell Parliament their plans.

This type of crime shows complete disregard for nature and the local community. The EA must seek to recover the full costs of clearing up illegal waste dumps from those responsible.

The Government must act today to proscribe the terrorists of the IRGC. Its dither and delay has endangered UK residents targeted by the IRGC. The IRGC slaughtered thousands of Iranian protestors in cold blood. The UK must act with the EU to outlaw them.

Lib Dems are positive about our country and hopeful about the future.

Things have been tough and there are those who want to exploit that for their own ends - not to make lives better or our country stronger.

Lib Dems will continue to stand up for a better future. Join us.
The United Kingdom is at its best when we’re true to our values: tolerance, decency, respect for individual freedom and the rule of law.

We can't let Nigel Farage throw that all away by turning Britain into Trump’s America.

Choose a brighter future with the Liberal Democrats.

So much wrong with this. Kids need exercise. It's good for physical and mental health, assists learning, builds valuable life-skills. Funding PE in schools exemplifies preventative investment. Girls benefit particularly. DfE and DHSC should reverse plans to cut funding. @womeninsportuk.bsky.social

Today is Holocaust Memorial Day. We remember the six million Jewish people murdered in the Holocaust, an atrocity born of hatred and dehumanisation. We recommit to standing against antisemitism and all forms of hatred.

Waste crime is out of control and the Environment Agency is under-resourced.

I welcomed confirmation in Parliament that organised illegal dumping will fall under the new National Police Service.

This is serious crime and it must be treated that way.

I welcome support for our pubs, but this is too little, too late. A one-off bailout is not a long-term plan. Many pubs still face big business rate rises and the wider hospitality sector is ignored. We need a full review of business and property rates.

Bicester is growing fast, but young people are being left behind.

A former youth arts centre sits largely unused, despite being publicly owned.

I asked Ministers today to back places like Bicester with youth funding, where a low-cost solution could make a real difference.

The last fortnight has shown us the dangers of relying on an unstable US President and the continuing threat from Russia as it pummels Ukraine despite “peace” talks. We have to strengthen our military capability fast: raising £20b in UK defence bonds would let us do that.
It's time to get serious about funding defence.

Everyone is saying we 'must do more' but it's all talk.

Our plan to issue bonds for funding defence will raise £20bn and give our allies the reassurance that Britain is serious about defending Europe.

The families of our brave troops killed in Afghanistan - including those from Bicester Garrison - deserve an apology from the US Ambassador to the UK. Donald Trump has said many things I disagree with but none have made me as angry as this disgraceful slur on NATO troops.
457 British troops lost their lives in Afghanistan.

Trump avoided military service 5 times.

How dare he question their sacrifice. Farage and all the others still fawning over Trump should be ashamed.

Trump is threatening British jobs and all of our security. We have to make him back down. It's clear that he doesn't listen to Starmer's pleading whispers. @eddavey.libdems.org.uk is right: we must spell out consequences that would hurt him and his cronies.

Trump's tariff threat to the UK and NATO allies marks a dangerous departure as he pursues the illegal annexation of Greenland. He hasn't attacked a NATO ally militarily - yet - but he has done economically. The UK must stand with our allies and face down his bullying tactics.
