Champagne socialist. UK politics, foreign affairs & overreacting to stuff we'll all have forgotten about in a week.
Maybe just me but hard not to think about new munitions factories opening without wondering if they'll be new pubs springing up to serve them called something like The Artillery Arms, The Gunmakers or The Bombardier.

struck by a line in a New York Post article and now imagining someone updating their LinkedIn profile with "released a tell-all book on my racy sexting affair"

When, years from now, they make the multi-part documentaries about this period, Musk's trillion dollar pay deal, which happened with a surprising lack of outcry or high profile commentary, will be seen as a major inflection point.

After 90 minutes or so sat at my desk, cats coming and going, I slump back in my chair and stare at what I've achieved: my open browser tabs down to a much more respectable, less insane, more manageable, forty seven.

Sunday is the best day to eat a huge meal washed down by bottles of wine and Monday is the worst day to wake up feeling slightly groggy.

A selling point of Labour and a part of their growth plan, was 5 years of stability so people could plan long term investments. But even without the leadership stuff there's been so much speculation and change of direction around the budgets that people still can't confidently plan ahead.

I see Starmer's plan to survive as leader is to simply let those looking to replace him pitch their policy ideas. Very smart.

Only just catching up with the last few episode of Celebrity Traitors and notable how before you announce a radical or unpopular proposal for traitor at the round table you have to test that idea with fellow contestants first. An idea so simple even non politicians can grasp it.
More Labour MPs starting to express public unease at these proposals. Lots more saying so privately...
The Prime Minister said in September that we are at a fork in the road. These asylum proposals suggest we have taken the wrong turning.

The idea that recognised refugees need to be deported is wrong.

Starmer has to be at least seen to be attempting to deal with this stuff. If only to maintain some sense of national dignity. My approach: "Mr President, with all due respect, if you carry on with shit like this I'm walking down to Menwith Hill myself, like an angry Dad, and turning it all off"
Donald Trump’s administration is considering offering political asylum to British “thought criminals”, The Telegraph understands.

Got WhatsApped about 20 photos the 12 year old had taken of one of the cats. They were all random and taken without thought and then among them this image jumped out.

An email arrives from a luxury brand detailing their latest advent calendar where behind each door is another advent calendar and behind their doors the same and so on until the purchaser is neck-deep in advent calendars, slowly drowning and wishing they'd never started. Only £275.

My less out there, longstanding conspiracy theory is that Trump was actually hit by a small shard of glass that spun towards his face when the gunman's bullet grazed one of his his teleprompters. He was still in potential danger but they overplayed by how much.
The Crane lowering the flag. To set the stage is very important evidence, 2 Trump supporters died for a staged campaign photo.
3 days before the Republican National Convention.

No medical report.

Ed Miliband should draw up plans for a massive onshore windfarm that involves compulsory purchasing parts of Turnberry golf course and every time Trump attacks the UK Starmer waves it through to the next stage, only pausing it if he then gets the desired result.

Really don't understand bond markets. They make money by buying govt debt but hate it when govts look like they might need to borrow more. Like a cobbler who charges you £25 for a pair of shoes but if you come back a week later with another pair it's "£95 and could you walk barefoot in future?"
