Got a memory today of when I took Thing 3 to Drag Queen story time 2 yrs ago. Great event! Unfortunately, the next DQ Story time, a bunch of brown-shirt bootlickers who call themselves “Proud” boys assaulted several people. Took Parks months but we brought DQ Story time back. Don’t let fascists win.

NEW: Epstein survivors release the most powerful PSA I have ever seen.

Make this go viral so every member of the House of Representatives sees it.

Don’t threaten me with a good time.
Johnson: If we lose the majority… They will try to end the Trump administration. He won't have 4 years. He'll have only 2, because they will move to impeach him, probably on the first day of the new Congress in January 2027 and try to systematically unwind all the important reforms that we've done."

And the man who made the website that rejects my 4-figure grant reimbursement requests for student stipends and staff salary. A trillionaire made a cute little DOGE website called “Defend the Spend.” We’re trying to give construction skills and safety training to kids.
The man who ended USAID is the world's first trillionaire

Ultimately I think the critical line here is “do you support Trump’s attempts to destroy the US constitution” and Mamdani is unequivocally “no”, Cuomo is unequivocally “please I’ll do anything to be relevant again”, and sliwa is “listen I was shot 5 times in the back of a cab and I hate all of you”

It looks like New Yorkers just passed all three pro-housing charter amendments on the ballot. The mandate is clear: it's time to build more housing.

Excited for this one. “Proud Mary” is a great track and on my playlist of ‘Covers that Stole the Song,’ along with Johnny Cash’s version of Hurt, Whiskey River by Willie Nelson, and Ring Them Bells by Sarah Jarosz. Tina Turner sings the hell out of this song.
The new episode of A History of Rock Music in 500 Songs is now up! Racial slurs! Tolkien! West Coast jazz! Dancing pigs! Lawsuits! So many lawsuits! It can only be the story of Creedence Clearwater Revival and "Proud Mary".

Democrats say this constantly, but when front pages of The NY Times and everyone else refuses to acknowledge it, or thinks stating it is is being a Dem partisan, how do you break through?
“every time theres a republican president the economy collapses” feels like pretty easy messaging on the economy
Congrats to everyone who put Republicans in charge "for the economy," the first three quarters of 2025 already had more layoffs than any of the years in which Biden or Obama was President except 2009 (when Dems were still cleaning up the prior Republican mess).

It's literally just a bad product that people rich enough to seed their marketing into culture want us to use. This whole debate is like if they were insisting that space-hopper usage in university exams was inevitable

This is systematic throughout the US Federalist system (multiple veto points, gridlock, etc), but our theoretical assumptions about how this works (eg, the Senate being the saucer that cools the hot tea of the populist House) just aren’t empirically true and are based on the writings of English 1/2
There's this common wisdom that all the veto points in the US system blocks wild policy swings, when it actually has the opposite effect: parties stew for years over everything they'll rapidly ram through by any means possible in their brief window of full power before it's gridlock for years again.
personally I think we should encourage parties doing things publicly with their majorities over trying to hide it with the courts and obscure executive action

Can't overstate how fucked up it is that unraveling what is arguably the greatest achievement in the history of humanity is now a motivating issue of one of the two dominant parties in the U.S.
FL is moving forward w/ plan to end all childhood vaccine mandates. Starting with hepatitis B, chickenpox, and the bacteria causing meningitis and pneumonia. Then next year GOP FL legislature is expected to revisit 1977 law re: whooping cough, measles, polio, rubella, mumps, diphtheria, and tetanus.

It's amazing that housing supply deniers will say "new housing doesn't lower rents" and meanwhile real estate investors openly write stuff like "thanks to low housing production, there's less competition and we can raise rents!"

Once again, the main day of Tea Party protests had about 300,000 nationwide, but saw endless coverage.

The No Kings protests had about 7,000,000 nationwide, and many media outlets reacted with a yawn.

No Kings was nearly 25x as big as the Tea Party but the Tea Party got 25x the attention.
Ask yourself this: How would the New York Times have covered the protests if it had been seven million MAGA supporters flooding the streets? We don’t even have to guess: We know how they and other mainstream outlets covered the Tea Party protests during Obama’s first term.

“If you live in a 15 minute city but your barista can’t afford to live there too, you don’t live in a 15 minute city, you live in a theme park.“
who creates the lively art and music scenes if the rent is too high? who makes cultural life? who serves you food or washes your dishes? who creates the fancy little restaurants that draw you to urban living? affordable housing is at the heart of what makes city life worthwhile.
