This is one of those things that makes me so angry about this stuff. We are at an amazing level of technological progress and we can’t even actually appreciate because almost everything they claim it can do is a lie even though what it can do is amazing.

Cory Doctorow explains how (I'm paraphrasing)
"The internet became 5 giant websites filled with pictures of the other 4"

Sometimes we’re unsatisfied with a thing we made because when it only existed in our head, we saw all the things it could have been and when it’s done we know all the things that it isn’t, but we can’t see the way it expands into a million new things when someone else unpacks it in their head. 🖊️🦑

Everyone knows that "Preferences" should be found under Edit (because you edit them), under Tools (because they control the parameters of your tools), under General (because they are categorically broad), & under File (because a preference is a 'filing off' from a marble block of possibility)

Y'all I literally just use Wordpress dot org and pay 15 bucks a month to host the fucker at Bluehost, been doing that for six years running now and it's been fine. you don't need to use substack
Instead of Substack, consider: starting something called a "website"

It took under 10 minutes

Thank you to reddit poster N1ghthood for articulating so succinctly the case against replacing skilled workers with LLMs:

"Currently, the only way to reliably use LLMs is to know the answer to the question before you ask it."

(which sort of undermines the entire business case)

"to democratize art is not every person having a cute drawing made in seconds, to democratize art is every person having time and health to learn and make art if they chose to, and mainly to have the means to think and relate introspectively with art."

Young people no longer study ancient history so if you say Hannibal to them they assume you mean the fictional serial killer and not the guy from the A Team.

I wrote this book and I don't like it.

Reminds me of one of my first encounters with a Crow after moving to Ireland. Walking down blarney street, when a full heel of a sliced pan gracefully descended in front of me. I look up and there’s a crow sitting on a wire, full head tilt on and looking down at me like he’s expecting a thank you 😂😂
Befriending crows is a wonderful thing.

Robert Frost knew.

"The way a crow
Shook down on me
The dust of snow
From a hemlock tree

Has given my heart
A change of mood
And saved some part
Of a day I had rued."

So often my crow friends have saved a day ruined by work or otherwise. (2/n)
