Still watching the world turn and hoping we live long enough to see the future we dreamed of on Star Trek.
As Hoffman says, having a permanent CMOH would go a long way towards making vaccination campaigns effective. Still no one after a year?

Not to mention that a large part of the reason people are travelling “province to province” into Alberta is the “Alberta’s Calling” campaign her govt created.
The Premier fails to mention a long history of low vaccination rates in key communities in Alberta intead mentions of people traveling to Alberta as though the risk came from elsewhere and not inside her own house (and base) 🤦🏻‍♀️ www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says Canada recently losing its measles elimination status is concerning, but her government might not have many other options on the table to help get it back.

Hey so “underage girls” are…children. The word you’re looking for is children. They’re not like, women-in-waiting or women-lite or whatever. They’re children. I think some of you are very uncomfortable with what that means for you but it is still true.

At 2:58 minutes into "Hey Jude," you can hear Paul McCartney saying "fucking hell" after making a mistake on the piano.

The band thought it was funny, so they kept it in the song.

The Speaker of the House shut the chamber down for two months to block the release of the Epstein Files and the president is huddled in the Situation Room of the White House to formulate a plan to keep them from being released, and I don't know why you crazy libs think there's some kind of cover up.

I know these things take time to do properly but I hope the people forming these recall petitions get the lead out. We’ve already seen the UCP change the law, putting a finger on the scale when it suits them. They WILL do it again.
@djclimenhaga.bsky.social: Trying to challenge the UCP government’s misuse of the Charter’s notorious notwithstanding clause may be a waste of time and money, but using the UCP’s ridiculous recall legislation as a strategy against the perpetrators is clearly rattling Premier Smith. #abpoli

The James Bond chatter today reminds me of Steven Moffat’s DOCTOR WHO scene in which Clara asks the sinister Missy how she could’ve possibly survived the death we all witnessed in the previous season (this was a regular occurrence with this villain in the original series too) 😃

Edmonton has had a disturbingly high number of frostbite amputations the last two winters. With freezing temps on the way, both the City and the Government of Alberta must do more to prevent people from freezing in the cold. edmontonjournal.com/opinion/colu... #ableg #yegcc
Opinion: Edmonton doesn't have to be the frostbite capital of the world
Severe frostbite injuries are entirely preventable - together, let’s work towards a city where no one gets left out in the cold.

If you have a roof rack and use a storage box on your vehicle, check your manual. You probably should not drive above 120 kph. People will, and it will damage their vehicles. It’s also brutal on your fuel economy to go above 100, but the oil and gas companies will love this decision. #BurnBabyBurn
Speed kills, kids.
Guaranteed this move will lead to more crashes with more severe outcomes. I'd be curious what local police and fire think about this proposal from Alberta's transport minister who seems to consistently do the opposite of what is safe. #roadsafety calgaryherald.com/opinion/colu...

You should not be accepting bonuses when your employees are accepting public support to survive.
Walmart and McDonald’s are among the top employers of workers who rely on food stamps.

McDonald's CEO raked in $18.2M last year — over 1,000x the company's median employee pay.

Walmart's CEO pocketed $27.4M — 930x the company's median employee pay.

This government manages to find new lows.
The UCP attack on teachers gets worse, as more details emerge.
Two things heard today:
1. Schools have been told to take teacher attendance and report it to the government every single day.
(Smith is MIA, but that’s different)
2. Teachers are only paid for about 200 contracted days per year (1/3)

Backbenchers in the UCP caucus (and there aren't a lot of them, given most government-side MLAs are in cabinet) have a lot of control over whether to pass Bill 2 with time allocation and/or the notwithstanding clause.

They could simply ask for it to be passed as a normal bill with full scrutiny.+
