My favourite thing about Paddington 2 is coming on here to check the reactions and reassure myself that I'm not the only one still doing a big ugly cry in the last five minutes #Paddington2

That struck me for the first time on this year's rewatch - even at his lowest ebb, George is still putting other people first.
Potter’s surprise at George saying that *he* misplaced the money rather than Uncle Billy.

Rick is such a good writer that whenever he has an opinion on a film I disagree with, I really have to re-examine my own thoughts on it, which is very rare.

Basically, I hate him (but read his stuff anyway)
The films of the year: 26 discoveries, 10 old favourites, 7 bad movies, 6 re-appraisals and 5 obsessions. Feat. all your faves: Linda Fiorentino, Joan Micklin Silver, Sinners, Wallis Island, Argentinean child noir, and really quite a lot of John Ford. advicetothelovelorn.blogspot.com/2025/12/revi...

The greatest thing about Episodes 7-9 was the way Star Wars fandom came together and embraced them all with love and respect and accepted them as wonderful additions to the canon.

Got a stupidly long time into lessons in my 40s before realising it really, really wasn't for me, and there's nothing wrong with that.

(Also, I would have literally no money at the end of the month)
Learned to drive in my 40s. Massively regret it. So stressful. Make a mistake and best case scenario is hundreds of pounds of damage, worst case is I die. Get me back to the train.

Two babies were born in New York within a year of each other, soon after WWII.

One, Rob Reiner, lived a life of humanity and achievement. He brought us delight and joy. His memory will be a blessing.

The other, Donald Trump, will be remembered as an embarrassment to our nation.

Rob Reiner either made your favorite movie, or made somebody you know’s favorite movie. If you’re a Californian, he’s also part of the reason you or your friends can get married. He has changed more lives for the better than this asshole commenting on him ever did.

I just read the new SPINAL TAP book and there’s a moment where Rob Reiner and the rest of the cast ask each other which projects will lead their obituary. Rob was sure “Meathead” was going to be the first line of his.

Tonight, everyone’s teeing off with “one of the greatest directing runs ever”
