I want a politics that widens the circle to include everyone, not one that shrinks the circle by throwing *undesirables* under the bus. I think this is basic. I am interested in a politics that is rooted at the sources of people's suffering. I am interested in a politics that attends to basic needs.

Buddy, I can see mountains reflected in the eyes of a trailside pika.

Pretty sure Canadian Post is doing this as well. The isolation is crushing
Japan Post just announced they will no longer deliver mail to the United States, joining Germany, Austria, Denmark, Italy, France, and Sweden.

This is extremely freaky.

last night, someone on tiktok asked
me how wearing a mask is antifascist, so i answered: unfortunately, even passive, austere eugenics works faster if YOU participate.

so step up: stand out, mask up, and take care take care take care for yourself & others—before those who seek to harm stop you.

If you care about Medicaid, I need your help. These kids are the best chance we have of saving Medicaid.

Families are on the way to DC. We need to cover van rentals and hotel rooms. I will not, I will NOT, waste your money or time.

Can you help get this donation link in front of your people?
We have @littlelobbyists.com families on the way to Washington DC right now, they'll be on the House-side of the Capitol tomorrow. We're going to make them see us before they vote to kill disabled children.

If you can help cover the costs of this urgent action:

I just gave to Little Lobbyists Action Network!
Show your support with a contribution.

Cannot emphasize enough that, if you dislike doing the things academics do (reading, writing, developing and expressing opinions about things you've read) enough to try to make a chatbot do them for you, there are lots of actual humans who would be happy to take that unpleasant job off your hands
Got gossip from a managing editor pal of a journal that a few reviewers used ChatGPT to write their assessments for them, and didn't even conceal it. I'll say it again - it won't be the neoliberal administrators that take down the humanities. It'll be humanities professors who've stopped reading.

I haven't talked about this in a while, but while we are currently in a golden age of romance focused bookstores, it was within the last decade that readers were crowdsourcing a google map of bookstores that wouldn't treat you like trash if you asked for a romance novel.

So this is GOOD!
Are you an #IndependentBookstore? Do you sell Romance fiction? Do you want to let readers know? Do you want to join in a celebration of Romance fiction, its authors, & readers on August 9? Then make sure you sign up as a participating store for this year's #BookstoreRomanceDay.

From the gov site:

"In the current era of high population immunity to COVID-19, additional COVID-19 doses provide very limited, if any, protection against infection and any subsequent onward transmission of infection."

This is utterly, utterly false.

I've been going outside a bit more lately because I can't let the agoraphobia win & I've gotta say: Would be easier if I didn't get weird glares anywhere I go from people who are strangely upset that I'm wearing a face mask. Many people have just mysteriously forgotten that high risk people exist.

I love and appreciate Ebony for always hyping me up.

My name on all the 💵 apps = heymrsbond and all donations will support my upcoming class!

The best way you can celebrate today is LISTEN TO BLACK WOMEN.
If you're looking for a tangible thing you can do for Juneteenth that doesnt feel performative. Go to @heymrsbond.com (a BW who is a born and raised lifelong Texan) and send her a VenMo, purchase items for her classroom, or if you are a publisher/know a publisher, pass her info to them.

There's a thread on AskReddit asking, "People who have had to drain their life’s savings on a single event, what happened?"

99% of the answers are depressing American stories about medical bills, 1% is an Australian who found a wombat burrowing under their house.

Statistically “America” is its cities. But we’re stuck with an 18th century political architecture that gives votes to cornfields & thus makes it politically viable to treat them as some kind of weird tumor.
not the main issue here but i'd really appreciate it if democratic politicians spoke out in support of big-city life and culture with the same energy and reverence that all politicians have for small towns

los angeles is "real america" and so are all the other big cities the president hates

Target was like, maybe the gays will like merchandise that has just the whiff of a suggestion a rainbow walked by it yesterday if you squint when you analyze the pattern for the celebration of Pride.
