Why can’t we say ‘working people’? ‘Working families’ sounds like we’ve completely repealed child labor laws.

I’m taking an extended break from everything but I have become aware of this mess and I just want to note that the New York Times’ “assistant managing editor for standards and trust” is a guy who once had to apologize for using language he admits is sexist to describe Hillary Clinton.
Patrick Healy, NYT assistant managing editor for Standards and Trust, wrote a thread on how the Zohran Mamdani/Columbia story came together:

In a move that raises very serious First Amendment issues, ICE executed a major splashy operation in California aiming to arrest a guy for posting fliers with names, pictures, and apparent phone numbers for ICE HSI agents.

I am struggling to think what possible law posting that info could violate.

The rest of the world is tragically unprepared for Rich Cincinnati Suburb Guy behaviors. They lack the antibodies for it.
Vance's Easter visit to Rome clogged its streets with a 40-vehicle entourage. He also demanded the Coliseum be closed so he and his family could tour it alone. Tourists who properly booked slots in advance got screwed.

He's apparently the first to make that demand. Then he didn't bother to show up.

we are approaching a moment of market singularity economists have only ever theorized: a quantum state of market inefficiency in which it is simultaneously so over and we are also so back
INSANE market action right now. Market exploded higher on a headline attributed to Kevin Hassett. And now nobody can figure out where it came from and the markets are diving again.

These people are all imagining themselves as artisans handcrafting magnificent pieces of furniture or machinery, and the plan is for them to spend 10 hours a day hunched over a sewing machine making fox racing T-shirts for Walmart.
Making stuff with your hands is objectively good. Not many people can make a living doing in our current world.
