It's not going to lead to horrid places but actually the disillusionment in our ruling classes is very often justified.

When trying to figure out what Trump's game is with the Epstein files, it probably helps not to think if his administration as a single entity. You've got the frontman, but he lacks object permanence and likely forgets what's in there from day to day. But outside the DoJ most of the administration

“I'll tell you what happens with impossible promises You start with far- fetched resolutions They are then pickled into a rigid dogma, a code, and you go through the years sticking to that, out-dated, misplaced, irrelevant to the real needs, and you end in the grotesque chaos of a Labour government”
The Labour government does not want to rule out deporting somebody once here as a refugee 16-19 years with a British-born 15 year old child

Most people in this country actually eat a decent variety of food and it's like the Blue Labour sorts get all their information about British culinary habits from Americans on here.

Referring the Home Office to Prevent as it's clearly a radicalising group with an extremist far-right agenda.
Mahmood understandably attracting flak for hypocrisy, I think it also demonstrates the toxic culture of the Home Office. Minister after Minister goes into that job and in short order becomes radicalised. They are clearly quickly infected by HO anti-immigrant groupthink. Dismantle the Home Office.

I‘m tired of being nice about this; “abolitionism” has had years to develop a non-idiot policy program and the best they’ve come up with is ”murder without even the pretense of juridical process.” And I am not nut-picking; this is all over abolitionist writing.

Being a labour person is a lifetime condition. "I am not in the labour party!" Still has labour person behaviour. "I am making an alternative to labour" labour person behaviour. "I hate them" thats DEFINETELY labour person behaviour
I mean this is both *chef’s kiss* in itself and frankly applies beautifully to the Labour Party itself following the factional wars of the last ten years

I simply do not understand how the govt can simultaneously believe (1) they don’t have enough political capital to breach the manifesto on tax and (2) they have enough to political capital to pick an unwinnable fight with their own MPs on immigration.

There is no evidence that stripping refugees' rights one by one will have any impact on people crossing the channel.

Taking jewellery from refugees is akin to painting over murals for refugee children.

These repugnant ‘deterrents’ did not work for the Tories, and they won't work for us.

Thought I was finally getting over the cough I've had for more than a month and the antibiotics were working.

Turns out they were working by loosening up everything that's been clogging my lungs so I was up all night coughing. Please can I have a normal immune system instead?

It would still be a hateful policy either way, but it is fucking cheeky to justify seizing family heirlooms to pay for asylum costs when foreigners seeking citizenship are charged 1000%+ of the administrative cost at every step of the way.

I am just not convinced that the way to endear yourself to the British public is to talk about your admiration for somebody who shot a dog.
Somebody is briefing the Times that the Home Secretary finds inspiration in Kristi Noem's leading the Trump mass deportation effort - which has gone much too far for Americans

What a kamikaze piece of political madness that is on the eve of their asylum package
