One of the saddest things I’ve heard from Syrian and Lebanese friends is how painful it felt when supporters of Palestinian liberation dismissed their own legitimate grievances under the so-called Axis of Resistance. As if Beirut and Damascus exist only as supply lines for that.

I did security work for a while, and, yeah, we had “guy gets bribed to walk out the door with a flash drive“ as part of many people threat models, but like, how do you model a “random guy takes a massive bet on you having a cyber incident and then hires Romanian hackers” problem
i am not even sure *how* your protect organizationally sensitive information in a world where basically anyone could try to get a prediction racket going on it and then bet on it
not just military, but, like, earnings reports, product releases, etc., etc., and i suspect there are very organizations who have adjusted their insider threat models for any of this shit

Shocking chart alert!

Patients waiting over 12 hours in A&E in England hit a new record high in January, exceeding 70,000 for the first time.

In the past, it was rare for this number to exceed 1,000.

This is only counting the waiting time after the decision has been made to admit the patient.

When I got the contract to write a history of concentration camps in 2014, I hoped to keep the US from ending up here. That didn't work out! But now it's critical to understand how much is already in process and the enormity of what's coming. The sooner we act to stop it, the more people we'll save.
