This is correct, but also feels like a big warning sign for the government that such explicit criticism is coming from Labour MPs
A strong immigration system doesn't need to be a cruel one.
It shouldn't need saying - but refugees & asylum seekers are real people, fleeing war and persecution.
This daughter of an immigrant is proud of our British and Labour values of respect and not turning our backs on people in real need.

I'll be honest this is the sort of thing that might well be a leaving the party moment, well done Labour hope you can find another voter from the sort of people who utterly despise you

The only acceptable Christmas related activity at this time of year imo is the guy on the organ at church practicing the hymns - which just makes me feel warm and fuzzy

The relief I felt in hearing @pronouncedalva.bsky.social back on the New Statesman podcast can't be overestimated, it is great to have a political editor there who feels actively connected and actually breaking stories again, and explaining them clearly

This is a great book and a shame it didn't do better - buy it if you can

basically believe that this mostly depends on when you got Properly Online - before a certain cut-off your normal internet experience was high agency/high effort, but it eventually became low agency/low effort, and it's impossible to create a social media experience that caters to both groups

I have been thinking about the (in London at least) the clear lack of poppy wearing*
