Watch the @kelseabondatl.bsky.social video on the TAD scam. She lays it out clearly and, dare one say, entertainingly? Refreshing to have a council member (elect) telling it like it is.

kelseabondatl🚨 SAY NO TO A SNAP VOTE ON THE TADS!🚨I may not be sworn in yet, but I work for YOU GUYS! Soon, Atlanta City Council will have to vote on whether to extend Tax Allocation Districts (TADs) until 2055. This is a huge decision on how to spend a LOT of money that would otherwise go towards our public schools and other services. The proposal to continue diverting funds towards accelerated development is strongly backed by developers and corporate interests, and the TAD’s proposed “oversight” commission is stacked with lobbyists for the top 1% — The Atlanta Committee for Progress, The Chamber of Commerce, and the Arthur M. Blank Foundation. Are these really the entities we believe will fight for working family’s best interests? Corporations and billionaires shouldn’t shape Atlanta’s policy priorities — people should. Tell your City Council Member to vote NO on the TAD extension!Council President Doug Shipmandshipman@atlantaga.gov (404)330-6052District 1Jason Winston jwinston@atlantaga.gov (404) 330-6039District 2 Carden WyckoffCWyckoff@atlantaga.gov(404) 330-6038District 3Byron Amos bdamos@atlantaga.gov (404) 330-6046District 4Jason Dozier jdozier@atlantaga.gov (404) 330-6047District 5Liliana Bakhtiari lbakhtiari@atlantaga.gov(404) 330-6048District 6Alex Wan awan@atlantaga.gov(404) 330-6049District 7Howard Shook hshook@atlantaga.gov (404) 330-6050District 8Mary Norwoodmnorwood@atlantaga.gov (404) 330-6051District 9Dustin Hillis drhillis@atlantaga.gov (404) 330-6044District 10Andrea L. NEW: Sean Duffy frequently calls safety his “top priority” as transportation secretary. But I spent months wading through regulatory notices and found something far different: that USDOT has been delaying, weakening and killing dozens of safety rules, many opposed by the transportation industry.🧵

A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

Terrible news on the council president election. Overstreet doesn’t deserve the promotion, and Dickens needed a counterweight. Happy about Kelsea Bond winning D2 and the statewide PSC election falling the right way.
Atlanta establishment prevails in city races, despite strong progressive challenges

Democratic Socialist Kelsea Bond scored an outright victory in crowded District 2 city council race, as five council and school board races head to runoffs

Hey #atlanta, can a campaign put yard signs in front of the vehicular entrance to a polling place? Because that’s where Overstreet’s campaign is putting there’s at Grant Park Rec Center.

Fun fact. Trump destruction of soybean exports (rightfully) gets lots of attention. But you know what we sell even more of to China? Education.
2024 soybean exports to China: $13B.
Higher Ed: $14B.
Yes, all those internat’l students count as *exports.* Trump is STILL actively destroying that market.

I hope that other world democracies are noting very closely how ours is failing with increasing rapidity, and in doing so are fortifying their own to ensure it does not fall prey to the same tactics, like an entire political party being party to treason.

Atlanta, Marci Overstreet (and “Georgia On The Move” too apparently) is scared. Who do you want, someone who’s out to run a smear campaign because she can’t run on her own record and platform? Or someone who’s telling you all the things he’ll get done with the office? @rohitforatlanta.bsky.social

All I want in life is to persuade everyone, when encountering politics & culture, to ask, "why are we talking about this?" I mean that very literally: anything you encounter on your screens reflects a choice. Someone covered that, talked about that, rather than the many other things out there. Why?

Even if you aren’t masking anywhere else it still makes sense to wear a mask in medical settings & pharmacies because there’s a greater chance of being close to someone contagious & there are more people who are at higher risk in these places. Masking in these settings both protects you & others.
I really think there should be a continued public health push to have people wear a mask in pharmacies and medical settings since that is where sick people and people who are higher risk can be found frequently. It has never made any public health sense to loosen those precautions.
