Thank you to Pleiades for publishing my snarky little CDC hate poem 🖤
Just saw Taylor Tomlinson’s announcement that she’s canceling the rest of her tour because she’s been sick for awhile & she’s still sick & she needs to prioritize her health. I hope she recovers but damn, I hate how familiar that line is 😔

I’ve been tracking and writing about Brownstone since December 2021 and it’s really validating to see these pieces.

Solid write-up from KFF on its influence. One thing left out: The group helped steer the GOP House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic long before Trump took office.
A Small Texas Think Tank Cultivated Covid Dissidents. Now They’re Running US Health Policy. - KFF Health News
Fueled by covid backlash, a libertarian author created the Brownstone Institute in 2021. In recent months, people with ties to the group have catapulted to the highest levels of U.S. government, exerc...

Practice so you're ready.
I had the good fortune once of serving with a man who heard an insult to a woman colleague from the man in leadership.

He said, in his usual calm voice, “You know how you just said (insult)?”

Took a beat.

“Never say that again.”

@abrokenbattery.bsky.social does such amazing work tracking, archiving, & sharing ME-related media clips

#GreatestMEdicalScandal
Just a note to say: if you hear anything about #MECFS or #PEM and related on radio or TV, let me know and I’ll do my best to record it. I missed the Celebrity Catchphrase clip and don’t want to miss any more.

And if you have any old clips on VHS, I’ll try and get them digitised.

And when I didn’t magically get better they started accusing me of making it up 😵‍💫
the thing that forever damaged my view of mostly everyone irreparably is that time in 2021 when I was diagnosed w/ a devastating neuroimmune disease that has a roughly 5% recovery rate & no treatment & everyone just continued to behave as if I was going to magically get better any day now #MECFS

those of us laid off from Teen Vogue were really fortunate to complete our fundraising goal — the laid-off staffers at VIBE deserve the same support, as Black media outlets and journalists continue to be targeted and discriminated against in “austerity” measures
It was announced on October 16, 2025 that VIBE was "joining forces" with Rolling Stone. As a result, the majority of VIBE employees were laid off. If you have the means to give, this team could use the support! www.gofundme.com/f/support-vi...

-Long slow wide shots that take half the movie for your nervous system to settle in but then they permanently rewire your brain
-Animals who don’t speak as main characters
-Commitment to a child’s POV
-The viewer is implicated
-Underdogs remain underdogs
What are your top 5 movie genres? Mine are:

- Roaring rampage of revenge
- Reluctantly, I must resume my life of violence
- On reflection, the risk assessment on our giant monster facility and/or attraction could have been more thorough
- Girl survives
- Crime but make it quirky

And who was pushing to end the government shutdown at the expense of the ACA because they didn’t want to miss out on their big Thanksgiving travel profits?

It really is all the same fight & we need some solidarity if we want to win it
Like, to make this concrete, the recommended isolation period after a COVID infection was reduced by the CDC from 10 days to 5 days because the CEO of Delta Airlines asked President Biden to do it. And how do you think the CEO of Delta Airlines feels about meaningful climate action?

Beautiful thread & it’s reminding me of the concept of womb & tomb, seed & compost heap… how our most powerful periods of growth & transformation happen in the dark & underground… how the root systems we find there are what allow us to survive & transform & grow into something new
Alice Wong taught us that disabled people don’t just leave memories behind—they leave infrastructure. Lineages of care. Methods of collectivity, survival. She named the connective tissue that holds our communities together, even across death, even across the losses that come too fast and too often.

So 💔 & angry… that Alice is gone, Teen Vogue is gone, community care is all but gone, but dangerous infectious diseases are still being given red carpet treatment. The disability, Long Covid, & ME communities keep losing people, & it doesn’t have to be this way. We can do better. We must.
Respect Alice Wong’s call here:
“When I am in public spaces and see most people unmasked either because they think the virus is a hoax, that masking is virtue signaling & a sign of weakness, aren't thinking about it, or that they simply don’t care, I feel like an expendable burden not worth saving.”
COVID Isn’t Going Anywhere. Masking Up Could Save My Life.
