At a church in Minneapolis that is hosting an anti-ICE singing vigil, which will later process through the neighborhood.

They sing: “This is for our neighbors who are locked inside, together we will abolish ICE.”

Agree with all of this except a greater emphasis on voters, whose failure is inextricably tied to the failures of who precedes them on this list.
five years ago the president of the united states incited an insurrection in order to try to retain power and it is a comprehensive failure at every level - media, law enforcement, courts, politicians and most of all the voters - that he has returned to power and threatens the stability of the world

A reminder - before Trump, MAGA, Musk and Fox rewrote history - that this is what the entire country agreed had happened five years ago today:

On Aug 24, 1869, Ohio Rep. John Bingham, principal framer of the 14th amendment, gave a remarkable speech on “Equal Rights-Impartial Suffrage,” in which he said of those who sought to reject the principal of birthright citizenship, “no greater political atrocity than this can possibly be committed.”

Which one of the aspirants will be the Taney in the Court’s birthright citizenship case? Gotta say Alito is the favorite to complete the racialized patriarchy double.

ALSO, today’s 1,200 word front page story by the Strib’s retail reporter (the Strib doesn’t have a labor reporter) devotes exactly one sentence to Target’s blunders, implying that the boycott was brief.

I wonder whether the retail reporter ever reads the letters to the editor; this one ran on Sat.

What if I told you that two of the central dynamics of baseball are players complaining that umpires are always trying to fuck them and that the other team doesn’t treat them with proper respect.

What’s the more interesting question:
Whether enough incontrovertible evidence surfaces and is seen by enough people to resolve the question about involvement in the ring or whether the ‘shoot someone on 5th Ave and get away with it’ applies to involvement in the ring?

Ta-Nehasi Coates is doing a lot of things with this essay, but one of the most important is fearlessly using examples of anti-trans hate to describe Charlie Kirk's politics.

The contrast between his choices and those of other writers for major legacy outlets is revealing.
Charlie Kirk, Redeemed: A Political Class Finds Its Lost Cause
By ignoring the rhetoric and actions of the Turning Point USA founder, pundits and politicians are sanitizing his legacy.

Mostly the same. It boils down to reading the opinions, helping the students understand them, then asking the students what they think and why.
Very often, liberals will say, "How do you teach con law in 2025!?" And conservatives will say, "I can't believe this commie teaches con law." My views don't influence my pedagogy. (1) I use the Socratic Method, so everything gets thoroughly examined. (2) I teach law as the history of doctrine.

Look, obviously it is contradictory for DHS to be celebrating literal "new" immigrants as the nation's "heritage" in order to justify deporting immigrants.

But, this is some seriously mask-off white supremacist settler shit right here.

Jeffries is failing to meet the moment.
