I have - in all seriousness - a retired European Commission Director General arguing on my LinkedIn that European Commissioners should keep posting on X as "could you chart the right policy course without being immersed in the whole range of the debate"

What bit of this from Musk does he not get?

When you pay attention to the tons of evidence showing that immigrants commit fewer crimes, pay taxes, and contribute billions to the economy, you see that the problem isn't immigrants. The problem is the people blaming immigrants and spreading lies and stereotypes about them.

Just watched The 12 Days Of Christine ep of #InsideNo9 again, really is amazing. I do think it's the best ½ hour of telly I've ever seen.

That nurse? The one the press are saying "won" her tribunal hearing? The one they are trying to paint as the victim? This is the kind of person she really is.
this is whose reputation they're trying to whitewash www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/politics/...

So the racist transphobe lost her case but the racist, transphobic press are dressing it up as a win for the racist transphobes? Is that about right?

Sandie Peggie: I can't really think of an example of anything else recently where the media has so misrepresented what actually happened? It's not "clever" language, it's not even what happened with Israel. It's just incorrect.

Like it does feel like a bit of an escalation.

Or, more accurately:

Decision in the Sandie Peggie case:

She was not directly or indirectly discriminated against, her claim of victimisation fails entirely, her claim of harassment fails largely and her claim against Beth Upton fails entirely.

If the reporting on the Peggie decision tells us anything, it should be that the way news gets reported in this country has little to do with truth, and much more to do with narrative - as well as whose heavily spun press release lands on journos desks first.

Petition to only ever refer to Hadley Freeman as a "Woody Allen activist" from now on.
then, the transphobes , feeling victorious at how many people they have made unhappy and despairing in the previous week, move on to anything else that has a spectrum and the possibility of more colours than they can conceive - such hateful people - they cannot understand anything that is not THEM

Everyone involved knows Mel is a virulently racist fascist lunatic with horrendous views on the use of massive, murderous violence against civilians. But there she still is on Sky News, because her crackpottery is well within acceptable opinion, for our political/media class.

Helen Whately on #bbclaurak does not understand how PIP works for Motability vehicles.

People don’t get “a free car”.

Disabled people , who qualify via the very high criteria for the mobility element of PIP, can sacrifice that payment as a lease for a vehicle.

She should know this.
