How is pandering to the far right going to stop the rise of the far right?

That’s not how the world did it in the 1940s.

Why will it work now?

this is insane
New Home Office impact assessment finds that cutting skilled and social care visas will cost the UK up to £10 billion with a central estimate of -£5.4 billion.

It would be good if this got even a fraction of the coverage devoted to the endless debate about boats, flags and Turkish barber shops

We despair that the rightwing keep shifting the Overton Window further right. They never suggest that leaving the ECHR is impossible or not the right time. They just demand it. And we end up discussing it.
It’s time the left pushed back.
Not put up ‘can’t do’ barriers to our own hopes and aims.

🚨BREAKING🚨

MPs have voted to PASS our bill to establish a UK-EU customs union.

The Prime Minister must now listen to his own MPs, drop his self-imposed red lines and finally go for proper growth through an ambitious trade deal with the EU.

Why are billionaires orchestrating the removal of Starmer as PM

- because he is increasing the minimum wage?

- because he is improving worker's rights?

- because he is reducing the reliance on fossil fuels?

- because he will not take UK out of ECHR?

OR

- because he is not supporting Fascism?

The botched Brexit deal is costing Britain £90bn a year. It's time to turbocharge our economy with a UK-EU customs union.

MPs must back our bill today.

Finally finished off making the Xmas cards I started a month ago.

Probably should have put Xmas music on instead of FYC-40, might feel a bit more festive.
But I do like a bit of FYC.

Anyway, happy Christmas, all you phone-people who help keep me sane 😘😜

A new record - on 5 December wind power produced enough electricity for 3/4 of UK homes

At 23.8GW it meant that even during winter peak demand, it was still providing nearly half the country's power needs

Still a way to go though....

Staggering - the effort and resource *still* being invested in keeping the Brexit shitshow on the road.
No one’s held to account.
No one’s fallen on their sword.
No one’s got the guts to really speak out.
So, on we go, protecting this huge and ruinous lie, because telling the truth is too difficult.

Putin's ploy was to take out or damage key NATO players.

He's done that by using the traitor Trump to neutralise America, and hitting the EU and British economies by engineering #Brexit.

Now America won't intervene militarily and Britain certainly can't afford to.

Today, on the 31st anniversary of the Budapest Memorandum with its useless security assurances, we are facing a repeat of history as EU leaders warn of the risk of a peace deal without strong US security guarantees.

Donald Trump is a Kremlin stooge who wants to sell out Ukraine and the rest of Europe to Putin. We can't let that happen.

Starmer should seize frozen Russian assets in this country - today - and convince Merz and Macron to do the same.

Just listening to the @LBC news, and it occurred to me - why do they read out the ftse100, and exchange rates, as if these make a difference to the everyday person?

Maybe it’s time to add CO2 levels, or global temperature increase, or climate change deaths, so we’re all more informed?

Now to get on with the day. Maybe.
