While the mainstream discussions are depressingly about *how* best to remove and stop immigrants, it’s a revolutionary act nowadays to say that immigration is actually a positive thing and an essential component of a thriving country, so please join me in doing so!
Saline nasal sprays offer so much potential as a public health intervention to reduce viral illnesses. Easy to use, relatively cheap and widely available.
Congratulations to Professor Paul Little, winning Royal College of General Practitioners Research Paper of the Year 🌟

He and his team’s research found that simple nasal sprays, can shorten illness, ease symptoms and even reduce the need for antibiotics.

"Labour risks a migration politics that divides society into the fully entitled and the permanently probationary. In this hierarchical system of belonging, migrants are kept on extended probation and judged by standards never applied to British nationals."

Labour’s plan for migrants to ‘earn’ permanent residency turns belonging into an endless exam

All medical students deserve to be safe at university and on placement.

Earlier this year, we surveyed medical students in collaboration with @survivinginscrubs.bsky.social to understand how sexism and sexual violence is impacting students.

You can tell if gratitude is helping or hindering by how much you show up as yourself while feeling grateful. If it results in a 'diluted' self, it might be acting as a social conditioner rather than a wellness tool.

I figured something out. The large body of self-help work around gratitude is not without harms. It largely ignores the historical use of gratitude as a tool to silence, subjugate & chain self-actualisation in minorities & immigrants where feeling grateful is an expectation for peaceful existence.

Wrong. You can't be a 'legend' and 'engaged in rank racism and sexism' at the same time.

It's so frustrating. This misconception is still alive and kicking in today's science circles. Those labelled as 'geniuses' should not be forgiven their awfulness to others.

International students are not unwanted migrants. They’re wanted, needed & required for the survival of UK academia as it stands. Yet they’re constantly scapegoated in anti-immigrant political rhetoric. They’re falsely taken for granted. It’s not only unfair but also stupid & destructive.

Unlike politics, there’s no such thing as public health centrism. It’s evidence-based radicalism. It’s all about change towards health justice and equity, not tinkering around the edges trying to keep everyone happy. Such notions, my friends, are rather radical and there’s no shame in that.

Socialism is what they called public power.

Socialism is what they called social security.

Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.

Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people.

It’s so sad that the same regions which were world-leading in what may be considered the biggest public health success ever in history (small pox eradication) are the very same ones now leading on anti-vax misinformation.

Under new head of Paramount David Ellison, the studio has drawn up a list of actors who opposed the Gaza genocide and will not allow them to appear in its films and TV shows.

Does this sound familiar?

Also, "Ellison is reportedly aiming to take over Warner Bros. next."
