There’s a real link between AI writing and Silicon Valley meal replacement drinks and the entire fuckin swath of maximizing the human experience and it’s that they view pleasure as being unhelpful to life. I don’t want a drink that replaces a meal, I don’t want a book summary, I want to savor things

🚨 Everyone needs to call their Dem Senator right now. They are starting to cave.

Tell them:
1. Vote NO on Cloture
AND
2. Vote NO on the Republican spending bill.

Don’t let them pivot to reconciliation. GOP doesn’t need Dem votes on that and they know it.

TODAY is the showdown.

The Republican Party despises DEI policies that put unqualified people in positions of power, and that's why Trump has nominated a weekend Fox News host who's never managed anything to be in charge of the Pentagon.

So many people and organizations here in LA need help. When I can, I try to give locally, especially to groups that serve under-supported populations. If you can give, please do!

Agree with this.

One of my former employers talked about the concept of "F- You!" money. Enough that you could do or say whatever you wanted, and not put up with intolerable or morally compromising situations.

The likes of Bezos, Musk, Thiel, Zuck have 1000x that much money. And yet...
There’s essentially no one on earth with more independence to stand by basic moral values than billionaire tech barons. They have more wealth than they could ever spend, no voters or constituency. They could say “my values are all-important and immovable.” And instead they blow in the wind.

(They’re not inherently contradictory, btw. The takeaway is that personal sacrifice is an intolerable imposition when it’s for the sake of others and a virtuous necessity when it’s for personal gain. That’s the whole thing in a nutshell.)

Mike is correct. I’m about as Legal Realist as they come (the legal philosophy term for “law is whatever the judges say it is”), and even I agree. Don’t let them just have it. Make them earn it, even if only at the price of their reputations.
Yes. This. Each time I post about the hypocrisy I'm getting these kinds of cynical responses, and really, stop it. I get that everyone copes in their own way, but don't pre-give in. Fight for your actual rights. Call out the hypocrisy. Not to convince them, but to remind everyone else.
Getting a lot of replies along the lines of "oh, you rube, you still think the law matters" and it feels strategically foolish to just concede that it doesn't. Contest everything. Expose the hypocrisy.
