Having done it in the past, good LQA is incredibly important.
Because SE's QA people are probably not in a position to defend themselves and their jobs in public, I want to spell out some of what it is they specifically do for us localizers, because nothing I've written here is rhetorical. SE QA acts as a final check on our work after translation and editing.
You don't need me to tell you this is yet more good money being burned after bad. But as someone who's worked with that QA team, I'll say they're unsung heroes who truly play a huge role in maintaining SE's reputation for high quality locs and to attempt to replace them with AI is deeply insulting.

Congratulations to the California Republican Party, whose campaign against Prop 50 was so effective that I just received a mailer urging me to vote against it. On the day after the election.

A fantastic game. I really should play it again one of these days.
Grim Fandango (LucasArts) was released 27 years ago today.

What a masterpiece.

Honestly

QA might be the hardest of ALL dev jobs to replace with AI. The entire goal of QA is to notice when things are falling outside of expected parameters.
It figures that an industry that thinks that "vibe coding" is a reliable thing would now decide that QA is the next thing you can replace with AI 😒

Your friendly reminder that good QA people are worth their weight in gold and an invaluable part of game dev

Every study about vaccines that comes out is like "this vaccine is 97% effective at preventing this disease & also 3 other diseases & it somehow helps you play the violin beautifully" and antivaxxers are doing their own research that's telling them they can cure measles by eating polar bear liver.

the whole thing was defused when she returned - she found it funny

The “problem” with vaccines? They so effective at preventing deaths that they create generations of people that question whether disease was a problem in the first place because they have never experienced the horrors of a world without vaccines.

One of the ironies of good medical care is that you get more visibly ill people in the population - because we can now keep people alive instead of dying quickly; leading idiots like RFK the lesser to conclude that medical care causes more illness.

BRO. THAT’S THE BOOK. THAT’S LITERALLY THE BOOK. WHAT THE FUCK.
Apparently Guillermo Del Toro has ruined Frankenstein by… being relatively faithful to the source material.

Oh my.

It's called English majors and they will happily fix all of your documents for the low price of health insurance and a living wage.
