I'm not interested in calling any particular user out, so not gonna quote here, but I think if it seems inexplicable that this or that institution is "capitulating" to Trump despite his diminishing momentum and polling, perhaps consider that they see Trump as an opportunity and not a burden.

“A source that cannot be verified or remain consistent is useless.”

Shout this sentence from on high.
So Google AI is no longer telling us Mary Shelley and Jane Austen were sisters. That doesn't mean it's now 'right' or 'better'. It's just different, and there's no way to know why. New stolen material uploaded? Manual intervention? A source that cannot be verified or remain consistent is useless.

3M has poisoned every living organism on the planet with cancer causing DNA disruptors and have known they were doing so for decades, yet the company still exists and its leadership has not been thrown into jail.
Perfect embodiment of the capitalist murder machine that is our modern world.
How did 3M’s “forever chemicals” end up in all of us? Sharon Lerner reports the inside story of the corporate scientists who discovered—then helped to conceal—the dangers of its chemicals.
How 3M Discovered, Then Concealed, the Dangers of Forever Chemicals

Something about the way LLMs build in the idea that to find something out, you shouldn't read an already existing text that other people have also read (ew!); you should get fresh text generated just for you. Each time, new disposable text.

These moments really lay bare how paltry our ballot-box democracies are.
It’s worse than “Gaza is being starved and destroyed and no one cares.” It’s that hundreds of millions *do* care and are powerless to stop it. We need a world where that can never happen, where the masses actually have political power.

it’s depressing to say, but: at this point our best hope in slowing widespread “AI” adoption are corporate accountants and lawyers

it’s going to take large businesses seeing low return on investment, and subsequent budget cuts and lawsuits, to convince investors and customers to reject the hype
