Our thread of ICE and Border Patrol sex offenders is up to 53 agents, with many more to go.
Patrick Andrew Hamburg, 46, a Customs and Border Protection officer from International Falls, MN, was sentenced on Aug 16, 2011 to 7 and a half years in prison for sexually assaulting a preteen girl over a period of several years. Hamburg moved to Montana after his release from prison.

i literally had to use cron for the first time in at least 20 years 3 days ago and spent a good hour staring at numbers and *s saying out loud "why, why the fuck would you do it like this"

(pls fucking trust me that i am not looking for an answer)
wait is there an actual cron job involved here or has the AI invented an infinitely dumber and more expensive version of a cron job

“But I am a hater, and I will not be polite. The machine is disgusting and we should break it. The people who build it are vapid shit-eating cannibals glorifying ignorance”

🔥
I considered writing a long carefully constructed argument laying out the harms and limitations of AI, but instead I wrote about being a hater. Only humans can be haters.
I Am An AI Hater
I am an AI hater. This is considered rude, but I do not care, because I am a hater.

earlier this week I went to a performance (which was incredible btw) at a small community theatre/art space that was using AI generated posters for upcoming shows, and today I went to a small non-profit gallery that was just straight up showing a gen AI piece

it all feels so fucking defeating

what I can appreciate about the latest version of the fundamentally unnecessary water and oil consuming technology that helps automate fascism is that it makes me feel like a very special little boy
what i can appreciate about claude code in the terminal versus the chatbot stuff is that i feel i am talking to computer to make it do computer. whereas the chatbot stuff feels much more like a thing pretending to be human. feels more like using a power tool than going to therapy if that makes sense
Spending more time with Claude Code tonight and I do think one basic reality is that AI skeptics need to update their priors: Plenty of cause for concern, plenty of room to hit these companies for unethical behavior, resource demands, etc, but we are so, so far past the era of "stochastic parrots"
