Remember the other day when I was saluting my friend Greg Ketter, owner of Minneapolis’ DreamHaven Books? This is him the following day. Greg will never say this, so I will — now is a great time to buy books from DreamHaven. Support Americans who stand up vs. 🧊. dreamhavenbooks.com

the failure of Dem opposition still comes from the party being without shared beliefs such that the only message they can agree on is affordability.

the party as a whole won’t condemn cops. they won’t call for a wealth tax. they won’t call for expansive labor rights. they’re lost but hate the left.

"Luther informed Hitler in no uncertain terms that the Reichsbank was not part of his revolution. It was an independent fiscal entity with an international board of directors."

(The parallels here to Trump vs Powell are uncanny--almost too on-the-nose, really.)

What Happened When Hitler Took On Germany’s Central Banker
Hans Luther was the principled and respected president of the Reichsbank—but he wouldn’t accede to Hitler’s demands.

My anger at having to stand outside my kid’s school for two hours to ensure none of their classmates, parents, or teachers get kidnapped by my own government is only slightly tempered by the amazing outpouring of support from other parents and especially neighbors who stand against this bullshit.

Day 2 of the Republican shutdown. Your regular reminders:

1. GOP controls government. They control what bills get voted on and the vote thresholds for each bill. Senate GOP can pass their bad funding bill today if they felt like it.

2. Dems are fighting to lower costs and save healthcare.

Wait until you see how the Trump administration will try and fill those jobs left vacant by the immigrants he deports

Prison slave labor seems like what we're going for. Or maybe the same immigrants who were working for $3/hr will be arrested and forced to work for free.
Maybe more than the presidential election, a bigger sign of How Things Are is famously liberal California having a proposition to ban slavery and it lost.

Recently turned in a deeply researched draft of a book on What AI Actually Is and reader, this is 100% correct
"The problem with AI isn't that it can do your job. It can't. The problem with AI is that your MBA-brained boss's boss doesn't know how your job works and thinks AI can do your job at fractions of a penny on the dollar, and hears the siren song of 'maximize shareholder value'."

MBA-brain is real.
They’re literally advertising it.

so you're telling me the NY Times has no problem actively harming trans people but the moment the paper needs to call out Trump as corrupt they resort to whoa whoa that's not how he self-identifies
Corruption requires explict quid pro quo. It is not corrupt to take an action that aligns with the interest of a person who gives you a gift, unless the official action was in direct response to that gift--a bribe. Terms matter. Accuracy and fairness matters. Regardless of what social media wants.
