For many years I assumed that the Edmund Fitzgerald song was about a shipwreck in like, 1843. But Gordo wrote it the month after it happened! News you can use.

Is it a good thing when your train abruptly stops and then the conductor walks through and descends onto the tracks with a flashlight?

Fuck the fuck right off. My employer covered healthcare costs increased by 40% this year and I'm one of the lucky ones.
We're not fighting each other. We're fighting you guys. Have fun with your primaries.

But there are real dangers out there that must be fought; and energy spent fighting each other is energy lost to that bigger fight.

And giving in now will embolden him. Things will likely get worse.

Even the bullshit moderates are upset, Chuck.
Who was this for other than Senators concerned about their flights in two weeks time?

Even the Dem centrists at Third Way are mad about the deal moderate Senate Dems cut with Republicans to end the shutdown:

New York is a closed primary state, meaning you can't vote in a primary unless you are a registered member of that political party.
There are many of us who are registered Democrats for this reason alone, or we'd have ZERO say in who ends up on the ballot each November.
I vote on the WFP line.

Also worth noting: I'm a dues paying member of the @nywfp.bsky.social - AND I'm also a registered Democrat. You can do both! That means I still vote in Democratic primaries - which is CRITICAL in NYC, because that's where many elections get decided.

My employer covered health insurance cost increased 40% year over year. It's still an affordable number, thankfully, but 40! Percent! Year! Over! Year!
