It's a good time to appreciate how The Red Green Show, a Canadian program that lasted for 300 episodes across 15 seasons, started when Steve Smith said to a TV studio, "I want enough money to create a show, but not enough money for you to care about what kind of show it is."
Canada made weird tv shows because it was all being done with government funded art grant money so they fell in this wacky middle ground between “shoestring budget” and “no expectation to generate shareholder value” which is really the best way to make art

Started playing Z.A.T.O. today. It's a free visual novel that's surprisingly lengthy with a great soundtrack. It's been a good read so far even if it is definitely a feel bad kind of story. The protagonist reminds me of Serial Experiments Lain. store.steampowered.com/app/4122860/...

I get asked a lot for advice I'd give first time writers and honestly, it's... just get the words on the page. That's it. Don't worry about anything else until you've got the words on the page. Let that first draft be messy and glorious and fun. Deal with the rest of it later.

DOGE was created for data theft and infrastructure dismantling and it wildly succeeded on both counts within the first few weeks of its existence. It will take a generation to rebuild what it destroyed and the breach of data is unprecedented.
Bye bye, “DOGE”.

It no longer exists as a “centralized entity”, according to the Office of Personnel Management.

The “google is using your email to train AI” debacle is imo most instructively seen as tracer dye for multiple failures: many people are instinctively skeptical of tech companies now; and many outlets that should have had experts able to cogently weigh in and go “wait a minute” simply don’t anymore.

The way the right immediately mobilized and created target lists of enemies to go after couldn't be a better illustration of how MAGA was born out of Gamergate and absolutely nothing has changed.

It was the same playbook they created to go after women and minorities for "ethics in video games."
New: Reuters has tallied job losses, suspensions and investigations stemming from the reaction to Charlie Kirk's Sept. 10 assassination. Its findings: More than 600 Americans have been punished, and the figure is likely to be an under-count.

This is exquisite bullshit from Google because turning it off also disables inbox tabs, so every junk email you would automatically file away in Promotions or Updates now makes your phone buzz.
If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.
