i AM the annoying elitist asshole who only likes kaga-era fire emblem, because those games are defined primarily by the guy who made them and his departure left a gaping void in the series' identity and sense of value that intsys eventually sort of gave up trying to fill

what i find so cool about fe4 is it feels so unlike any other srpg i've ever played. the map structure often necessitates doing practice runs to get a feel for the map, then resetting to around the last castle to do things more efficiently + the prep phase is its own significant chunk of the chapter
