Trump is ranting barely coherently to McDonald's franchise owners: "The one pilot said, 'skedaddle!' And that thing just turned on its side -- pppph. And it's so unbelievable. And that knocked out Iran nuclear capability."

It's astounding how the bar for one party is basically on the floor.
So the oldest person ever to become president keeps falling asleep in his office during public events and there’s no big public discussion on how this is a coverup or how republicans are lying to us about how this government is running?

Yet, we're threatening to attack Nigeria for how they treat Christians.
If your government thinks the Pope “doesn’t know what he’s talking about” when he defends migrants’ dignity, the world should see the warning sign. The US is no longer leading on human rights. It’s suppressing them.

This really is THE issue - you've got a situation where Dems can sweat and bleed to get their stuff in a bipartisan bill, and Rs can nix it with 51 votes (or just impoundment).

That's new, and it removes the incentive to deal.
I've noticed that @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social is getting a little more comfortable talking about the shutdown as actually being about rejecting passage of a budget when the president won't honor it. From MSNBC today:

Or maybe you could teach your kids to treat all people as deserving of respect and dignity. And maybe you could talk to your kids about homelessness, the unaffordability of housing and healthcare, the stigma around mental illness, and why it's not okay to call people crazy.
JD Vance on homelessness: "I don't know why we accepted that it was reasonable to have crazy people yelling at our kids. You should not have to cross the street in downtown Atlanta to avoid a crazy person yelling at your family. Those are your streets."
