an initiative that impacts maybe a small handful of portland restaurants with no enforcement mechanism during a time where city capacity is significantly constrained does not seem like a very productive use of the council’s time, even if i agree with the sentiment.

This is your regular reminder that the data broker industry must be destroyed.
2. ICE is buying your private location data from sleazy data brokers through a legal loophole. I've had a bill to stop this since 2021. I'm renewing my push to get it passed into black letter law as soon as possible.

If it's on LinkedIn, it's not doxxing.
One thing I see liberal outlets giving ground on that I feel the need to correct: it’s impossible to “dox” a paid public official
By simply reporting their name, institutional role, and political affiliations

If he’s not being recalled and fired, then we’re simply shuffling deck chairs.

Just today did we manage to get any judicial pushback to MN’s fighting. He’ll simply move to a new district and start over. It’s clearly lawless.

The sudden intense uptick in posts claiming Signal is insecure without proof other other than alluding to special knowledge at a time when successful organizing via the app has been critical to success in MN reads as a grift at best, and an op at worst.
Stonekettle Station (Jim Wright) has been here on Bluesky 4 a while. It seems that the community here got riled abt something he said. Well, the community here is wrong. Not 2 say the guy can’t make a bad comment sometimes, but if u follow what he has 2 say, you’ll know he’s anti-MAGA & quite smart.

this is truly a perfect distillation of the AI industry's ever-more-monumental public relations problem
Every single time I try to adjust my priors and give 'AI' the benefit of the doubt, something else happens which shows everyone who is pushing this is doing so with reckless disregard for the potential harms or fully cognizant of what they're breaking.

I (once again) remind people that Trump “wins” when he delays COVID stimulus checks to write his name on them, and Dems lose when they “take the high ground” on similar issues.

We need better messengers.
Mamdani made a 90 sec. video discussing when and how the roads would be plowed, crediting the workforce that makes it possible, reminding owners they must shovel, reminding trash may be delayed, saying there’d be a decision about school by noon, and telling kids it’s fine to hit him with snowballs.

I’m completely fed up with elected Representatives saying shit like, “Republicans will tell you behind closed doors that they don’t agree with what ICE is doing”.

Playtime is over. Professional courtesy no longer exists.

Name them, record them, and make it public.
