The disparity btwn what’s actually happening in Los Angeles and the way it’s being mischaracterized is one of the biggest stress tests of modern media in recent memory. Botted socials, AI, old clips, declining literacy—it’s like seeing a broken emergency response system hit by a storm.

i stopped wearing red crosses more than a decade ago, because police *habitually* target medics.

this isn’t a one-off, it’s a deliberate choice they make over and over again.

it’s not “a few bad apples,” it’s widespread practice.
I was a medic at the Santa Ana protests in OC today.

I watched police fire tear gas, flash bangs, & rubber bullets into crowds of men, women, & children.

Other medics and I were clearly marked with red crosses, and the police were targeting us.

One of the most fucked up things I’ve ever seen.

No, really, that happened. It was shameful then. it's even more utterly pathetic now, in retrospect, given what's going on in the current moment:

When Joe Biden had a couple soldiers standing behind him during a speech, the press threw a tantrum and went on about how inappropriate it was for days on end. Their response to Trump doing far worse will likely be much more muted.

Can’t wait for all the free speech absolutists on the right to rush to the defense of the LA protesters being targeted my state violence… oh wait, on the right, “free speech” is just a code word for “pro Nazi”…

Not a constitutional lawyer, but doesn't habeas corpus mean that you have to be charged with a crime in order to be held in prison? And doesn't the fact that this person is a citizen mean that ICE has no jurisdiction over him?
🚨A U.S. born citizen was arrested in Florida for entering the state as an “unauthorized alien.” His mother and a community advocate showed his birth certificate during a hearing in Leon County. The judge said she had no authority to release him.

Trump will reportedly end the IRS Direct File program that allowed taxpayers to file taxes for free.

This comes after Intuit, the maker of TurboTax, lobbied the government for years to block IRS free file.

Intuit donated $1 million to Trump’s inauguration.

See how this works?

Netflix
Ford
Tesla

Duke Energy
DISH Network
Metlife
Dominion Energy
United States Steel

In recent years, they all paid their execs more than they paid in taxes.

This is what a corporate-rigged system looks like.

Well this seems like a fantastic plan.

The right wing has been so effective and undermining democracy in part because they have their claws into local / state government. Progressives CANNOT afford to ignore local / state elections if we want to preserve our democracy
Over 100,000 seats are up for grabs in 2025 — governors, mayors, city councils, state representatives, judges, school boards, and more.
