yeah this is fucked up? If the people who did the shit the award is for don't work there anymore why would you give the award to their old boss. bunch o' shit
I *do* think however that it's grotesque to be giving awards to companies that have laid off huge chunks of the workforce that worked on these games that are now getting awards

"surely there's a more nuanced take" isn't totally unreasonable excepting when you use your next breath to say "-because actually I think the AI voice thing everyone hates is good, actually" and then follow it up with some AI bro bullshit about how AI voice is actually very human and will connect us
"Surely there's a middle ground here?" The CEO of Helldivers 2 studio Arrowhead says people "jump to extreme takes" when debating generative AI, and that there needs to be more nuance in the discussion.

KIRO 7 ran an article and two TV pieces on the theft of a box truck full of arcade PCBs, artwork, and machines from my workplace yesterday. If anyone in the Seattle area sees someone offloading a ton of CPS2/NAOMI/Neo Geo PCBs, stuff of that nature, please reach out.

Hello #PitchYaGame Excited to share a game I'm working on -- CRUSH DEPTH. It's an atmospheric, retro-inspired horror game where you explore a wrecked station at the bottom of the ocean. According to at least one play tester it's, "pants-poopingly scary" store.steampowered.com/app/3938760/...

In case you'd like to do it yourself, here's the node setup for object-stable screenspace UVs I'm using

The original is by @jankaluza.bsky.social, and I've changed it to add a fixed radius and set it up as a Material Function on my end

Should work in any version of Unreal 4/5

Dead Space and Call of Duty’s Glen Schofield says he’s been experimenting with generative AI for 2 years and believes it can help ‘fix’ the games industry.

“AI isn’t here to replace us, it’s here to make us better, faster, and more efficient,” he says. “It’s a tool”.
