Another cracking bike-bus this morning. So good for the kids to get out after yesterday’s biblical rain ☔️

Big thanks to PC Bowden for accompanying the crowd 👮🏻‍♂️

Popularity of Cars Raises Safety Concerns

Cars are very popular, but safety concerns go alongside their use.

Accidents involving cars are increasing, and many roads are not designed for safety. “There are a lot of unsafe roadways,” said one driver.

I've been seeing so many news publications lately, including in my own city, about grave safety concerns over ebikes, all brought on exclusively by e-motos. Those damn things, as predicted, are muddying the waters of the ebike movement.

Wherein we discover that the 43, thanks to recent bus priority 'quick wins', emerges only slightly scathed from general ⬆️ congestion, whereas the 38, with no new bus priorities, gets hammered.

Another massive blow to climate action from the Scottish Government today. This time its also a huge backwards step for our efforts to tackle fuel poverty.

Its genuinely incredibly sad to see the Government trash its reputation as a climate leader like this.

With 300+ amendments to the Natural Environment Bill lodged by MSPs, it’s clear politicians want to make their mark on Scotland’s nature laws.

But will this bill put us on track to meet our international obligations to protect 30% of Scotland for nature and restore 30% of degraded ecosystems? 🌱🤔🧵

We are concerned about recent talk about cuts to the Cycle to Work Scheme. Though the scheme has some limits, where other forms of transport present barriers to Disabled people, cycling can for some be a method of independent travel that is supported through the Cycle To Work Scheme.

As winter flooding looms, it's worth noting that a young street tree in an asphalt surface can prevent 60% of the rain that falls on it from reaching the ground, even when not in leaf.

Increasing the low levels of urban tree cover should be a strategic national priority.

You mean we have to ask the fossil fuel industry to be responsible?

Surely that means never extracting a single barrel more of oil or gas 🤔

(or is “methane” a cunning distraction?)
“Methane emissions across the supply chain are a key indicator of poor environmental and operational practices in the fossil fuel industry. Reducing [them] in the energy sector is the most effective and rapid way to cut greenhouse gases in the short term.”

Can methane cuts pull us back from the brink of climate breakdown?
With temperatures breaching the Paris limit, experts say tackling the powerful gas could buy crucial time as the clean-energy shift stalls

… Edinburgh city council’s minds blown
A fietsstraat in Amsterdam. A through route for people cycling and trams but access only for parking / deliveries for motor traffic. Build it and they ride.

Everyone just wants these women to shut up and go away-- Politicians. Car companies. Traffic engineers.

By refusing to grieve privately, blame themselves -- they are flipping the script
