The Western Approach Road should be housing, a tree lined park or public transport only.

It’s the very definition of 1970s #Motornormativity.
Am always wary of this crossing on the Western Approach Road, but yesterday took it to a new level.
At least we have speed and power limits on ebikes, though.

A family day out with the SW20 community eCargobike.

🚲 23+ miles over 2.5 hours and average speed of 9mph.

You’d struggle to do that in a bus or car, let alone have that much fun doing it!

A different view from the norm for our volunteers today up at Poets Glen.

Although not on the walkway, its an extension that provides a car free route into the Pentlands. Thus a good rake off of leaves done to improve the route.

The thread about the Great Edinburgh Beer Duty Fraud: Boiling the Wort and Cooking the Books
It was 3AM on Christmas morning 1933 when - after a long and cold stakeout - not Santa but three agents of His Majesty's Customs & Excise entered the renowned Bell's Brewery on the Pleasance and caught the brewers in the act of working illicitly. They didn't yet know it but the trio had just uncovered the UK's largest ever duty fraud, one with a record that would not be broken for decades to come. So ended the Great Edinburgh Beer Duty Fraud. And so also begins its story, the story of a company set up by Victorian venture capitalists in "An Alcoholic Haze of Ambition" and which had to struggle through 40 years of economic hardship only to decide that criminality was a course of action preferable to watering down their famously strong beer.

First full winter of having the benefit of these new lights in Hailes Quarry Park. Made a big difference connecting residents to bus services on what was a very dark, uninviting connection from Murrayburn Rd to Longstone St. It was a long detour round if you didn't want to cut through the park. 👍

The city council says Edinburgh is the first UK city to use this type of lighting in parks.
