Interesting watch at DM Sub Planning committee yesterday. The New Mart Rd development returned after the Scottish Reporter took a long time to respond. Far from satisfactory as far as Cllrs concerned. Huge development - no car club spaces & no active travel contribution at big no-car development. /1

Kingfisher not sticking to the “catch and release” policy on the Water of Leith today. Very confiding not fazed at all by passersby even when they stopped to marvel at how close she was. @wolct.bsky.social @rspbscotland.bsky.social @rspb.bsky.social @scotwildlife.bsky.social #Birds #Edinburgh

Additionally, we're going to meet on site with Places for People in January to discuss options around tree planting and find out what's possible. 👍
Longstone sinkhole fixed, path open again, wall reinforced, and existing paths beefed up with more hardcore and whindust. A bit of seeding required in spring, and some mesh fencing to add but otherwise all good. 🙂

20 minute neighbourhoods need fantastic volunteers.

Listen below to the volunteer Race Director for the Hailes Quarry Park Junior Park Run which now attracts about 100 kids every week.

20 minute neighbourhoods need great volunteers - like these ones from The Conservation Trust tending this (newish) mini-forest.

This means that residents living in Ward 7 (Sighthill/Gorgie) are now represented by two Green and two SNP Councillors.
Cllr Ross McKenzie (Green)
Cllr Dan Heap (Green)
Cllr Cathy Fullerton (SNP)
Cllr Denis Dixon (SNP)
Locally and nationally, @scottishgreens.org are representing working-class interests and providing a real left-wing alternative - the very things I had hoped to do as a Labour councillor.

I will continue to spend every day trying my very best to serve the people of Sighthill/Gorgie.

It’s been suggested by one our members that it would be good if we could get some more trees planted along the northern edge of the Murray Burn behind where Short & Curlys and the Jaflong used to be. We’d need to liaise with ‘Places for People’ to see what’s possible.
