Tree safety works that commenced back on the 9/10 which were completed within a couple of weeks have left all their many diversion road signs strewn around our community blocking key routes to the local primary school.Ridiculous they have been left lying around for weeks now. Sent to Scottish Canals
So this is what was going on this morning. Union Canal path between Redhall Park turnoff and Kingsknowe Station will be closed each day for the next couple of weeks from 8am - 4.30pm. Cutting back ash trees. Diversion in place. No notice of this in advance 👎🏼 @spokes.org.uk @sw20.info @edi.bike

Final chance to have your initial say on what improvements you would like to see in this area of our community today. Further consultation will follow once the concept designs are prepared based on the initial consultation feedback.

Out with some of the crew & @longstonecc.bsky.social giving our planting areas a bit of TLC & preparing a new area for next season. Some giant red crocosmia donated by a fan from Craiglockhart, and a few additional from fans on Redhall Drive.

Listening to this as the damaged river wall is getting a total battering from the river. Disappointed the committee did not pass the amendment. We'll keep engaging directly with the council officer responsible to ensure our communities questions are answered satisfactorily. 🙏 to those who supported.
Good to see an amendment to this item at TEC tomorrow seeking clarity and further engagement with our ward cllrs and community on the Burnside path. Hopefully it passes.

Solidarity. Always hear plenty about anti-social behaviour from young folk & forget adults are guilty of anti-social behaviour on a daily basis. Speeding, engine idling, fireworks, pavement parking, smoking at the school gates, not being able to put rubbish in bins properly, fly tipping etc…

A thank you to Rev Bob Henderson, Chaplain to the Forces, for a moving and thoughtful memorial service this morning. It was lovely to see such good attendance with everyone paying their respects. Ray Donnelly laid a wreath on behalf of LCC and looked impeccable doing so.

Now the mattress has gone we’ve raised a job to have the area cleaned and the actual rubbish that is blowing everywhere removed. Efficiency saving opportunities are abundant in how CEC manage the environment. Where’s Elon when you actually need him? Ref: 102000005105

Notification from CEC this has been attended to this morning.
Reported under Ref: 102000003770 to @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social for action (again) outside 80 Longstone St.

It only takes some simple measures to make streets safer for people walking, wheeling and cycling to school.

So why is it so hard? 🤔
💥School Street safety and getting the basics right!💥
A lot of this came up at @drscottarthurmp.bsky.social coffee morning in Slateford/Longstone Church this morning & relates to safety of our children/older residents movements in the community. /1

Some good news for local drivers. Carriageway resurfacing coming to Longstone Rd early next year.
- Eastbound from the junction of Longstone Terrace to opposite the junction of Parkhead Loan.
- Westbound from the junction of Longstone Park for approximately 70m.

Honestly unlikely at present but as these schemes move forward into permanency over the next few years there may be opportunities to adjust them. It is a bad spot for short stay pavement parking, cycle lane blocking, and generally poor parking.
What's the likelihood of a few extra bollards on this stretch of Inglis Green Road outside Imperial Palace and the garage @longstonecc.bsky.social ?

This is a very common occurrence.
Someone is going to get hurt here at somepoint due to drivers being predictably selfish.

Could do with few more bollards for sure.

Perfect? No, but it was never going to be. However observations from walking about are:
👍 overwhelming majority of households across the Redhall/Longstone area have not set off fireworks this year and that reflects on our community well. 👍 /1
Quite a number of these appearing locally now. 🚫🚫🎇🎆

A few items of note in the ‘Road Safety Delivery Plan’ 6 monthly update to the Transport & Environment committee next week in relation to Longstone Primary.

Additional clarity - why this section of Redhall Drive has been marked up. Seems we have the young cyclists to thank on this occasion. “Process of marking up locations for patching has only just begun, so there will be many more streets inspected & added to our works schedule in the coming months./1
Update from Road Team:
We will be carrying out permanent carriageway repairs in Redhall, Longstone and various others locations in the South West locality, starting in January. The works at Redhall will most likely be in February to tie in with the school holidays.
