I have to point to our recent work where most of the people we spoke to favoured car-reduction policies, but thought they were unusual for doing so. This is one reason why consultations, as currently enacted, won't work to gauge support www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
*Sighs once again*.

Consultations are not referendums. We have a system of representative democracy. Those elected enact policy and consult on *how* it is enacted, not if. There are many, many good reasons why this is the case.

"Every critical ecosystem is on a pathway to collapse" - wow, the wording in this isn't pulling its punches
🚨 BREAKING 🚨
The UK Govt has quietly published - without announcement - the Joint Intelligence Committee/DEFRA report it suppressed last October. They tried to sneak it out in the midst of crisis. Read and share:

Brendan Fraser better win another Oscar!

Rental Family is a beautiful film, though thankfully not as emotionally devastating as The Whale.

I properly ugly cried for like 5 minutes after that.

I hope Elon Musk's biggest and only lasting legacy is that the word "grok" becomes a commonly used word to mean false, artificial, biased or untrustworthy.

As in, "shut up, that's a crock of grok".

I missed this 6 years ago:

Scotland's £3bn+ A9 road project didn't make financial sense.

But then a bunch of consultants invented a never-before-seen £430m 'driver frustration removal' bonus (SEPARATE to benefits for reduced journey times and collisions).

It changed ROI from -11% to +12%

Cool. 😮‍💨
The A9 dualling project – crucial for Scotland?
An overview of the economic and road safety impact of the project to dual the single carriageway sections of the A9 trunk road between Perth and Inverness.

What is probably less obvious is that every single one of these cars is also pavement parking. That's a walkway beside the cycle path under there on the left. They are supposed to be in a line but the designers decided barriers were unnecessary.

Perhaps bus gates might get less hostility if the council instead went for mini tank obstacle route as the perfered option.

Then peak time camera enforcement would be the compromise.

Least LRT are saying no bus without the bus priority measures.

In Ireland, people drive to the shop 1km away to buy a pint of milk.

That is not the fault of the individual, but the result of decades upon decades of car centric policies.

Anyways, well done to the Finns 🇫🇮
No car needed to hit the tracks in Oulu! 🇫🇮 With 900km of maintained cycling paths connecting to 350km of cross-country ski tracks, the transition from pedals to poles is seamless.

I used to work at the Food Standards Agency and we got quite a few of these high end venues claiming they didn't need to follow the rules because their food was of such high quality it could never lead to anything so basic as food poisoning

This is precisely what every council's communications teams should be doing. Shutting down the absolute nonsense that some people spread online, often unchallenged. It just makes it look like they're right and the council doesn't want to engage.
