The #Roseburn corridor is indeed a fantastic cycle route, but it's a former railway line that's needed for that purpose again. You'll still be able to cycle along it when the tram comes. More importantly, without the tram the city has little chance of meeting its climate targets, and that's serious.

Some good Tram coverage in the Herald today. Especially worth remembering that 'Consultation exercises often capture only a small fraction of public option'. In any event, Edinburgh needs to plan for the long term with all its communities in mind.

Is Edinburgh tram consultation a ‘false choice’? Here’s what the evidence says
With just days left to respond, Edinburgh faces a fierce tram debate. Two routes, big costs, and claims of a public ‘false choice’.

They can see the cost of something, but don't have the ability to see the value of that investment.

The infamous #a100 motorway project in #berlin is still struggling to survive despite being a hangover from last century. The 16th segment of this dinosaur #infrastructure opened in Aug 25, causing - no surprise - traffic jams. An expensive lesson in #InducedDemand . €720 million wasted. And now conservatives incl. @cduberlin want to remove a #bikelane to make more space for cars at this bottleneck. Like it's 1963. It's the #Karlsruhe Stadtbahn. It runs tram-trains, in this metro region in #Germany of 310,000.
Outside town, they run as standard commuter trains. Inside town, they operate as trams (streetcars)—no need to change mode.
