They‘re the Smartphone Generation. Not digital natives. They grew up with closed operating systems that don‘t require or even allow much customization beyond cosmetics, with cloud data and streaming.
If I hear one more person refer to Gen Z or Gen Alpha as digital natives when the students do not know:

1. How to use built-in Word functions like outlining and spellchecker
2. The different types of basic files
3. Interoperability
4. The issues related to uploading

The thing that bothers me the most about all those hundreds of "AI" features everywhere is that I do not consent. I am not asked for consent. Most are opt-out when they should be legally required to be opt-in. Consent should be the norm. Regulations are needed asap!

yet opposing the integration of genAI into the classroom and other critical societal infrastructure somehow makes one a 'pessimist', 'anti-progress' & 'anti-innovation'

Film makers should be forced to watch 1940s musicals so that they can replicate the lighting and colors.... I'm tired of not being able to see shit.

I'm tired of people saying that they don't care that a photo or video is AI because it's "still cute." No, it isn't. None of it is. It's all soulless and takes away from the beauty and rarity of things in real life. 😩

⚠️Ertrinken sieht anders aus als gemeinhin angenommen.

1. Ertrinkende können idR nicht um Hilfe rufen
2. Ihr Mund gerät immer wieder unter Wasser und ist nur kurz über Wasser, um einzuatmen
3. Sie fuchteln nicht mit den Armen, weil sie sie nicht kontrollieren können
4. Sie sind senkrecht im Wasser.
Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on.

AI makes everything shitty and stupid. It gets so many things wrong it's starting to really make me question how the internet can survive this. Kindergarteners are more digilent than this idiotic calculator of a mess.

For everonye outside of germany, a superrich family fumbled dodging taxes and now paid the record sum of 4 BILLION euros.

Which would cover nationwide child coverage by 166%

That is the amount of money countries miss out on due to rich people evading taxes
Imagine, man würde alle Superreichen konsequent fair besteuern.

I think a lot of people don't appreciate that we share the world with people who grew up radically different from each other. Either they grew up in a world where you couldn't be reached at all times or they *DON'T KNOW* a world where you can't be reached at all times

What is wrong with these people. Personally, I will be protecting women by raining fire and brimstone on any obsessive weirdo perv I see sneaking pictures in the ladies toilet.

This is a vital message: one of the larger reasons BlueSky is refreshingly free of alt-right shitlords is because in the early days we made a gentleperson’s agreement to starve these fuckos out and it worked. No likes, no quotes, no engagement. They got bored and left. Please keep the Old Ways.
Vice-President JD Vance confirms he has joined BlueSky.

Big tech is here to derail and destroy education

GenAI is a problem and not a solution to anything
“Technology companies appear to be targeting students as a key demographic for AI tools. Google offers university students a free upgrade of its Gemini tool for 15 months, and OpenAI offers discounts to college students in the US and Canada.”
Revealed: Thousands of UK university students caught cheating using AI
Guardian investigation finds almost 7,000 proven cases of cheating – and experts says these are tip of the iceberg

I think a lot about how Aaron Swartz committed suicide while facing a probably long jail sentence for download some of JSTOR, but no one at Meta is going to face any repercussions for using all of Libgen to train its AI.
Someone else said something very similar to this the other day, but.

It really burns me that our (millennials') generation was legally terrorized for like, downloading Radiohead discographies

But we're supposed to be ok with billionaires stealing human intellectual output in its entirety bc AI
