Yeah, that’s so upsetting.
Weirdly in some of the areas I've done fostering work in Halloween could be dangerous for black cats but it wasn't satanists, it was people who thought the cats were satanic.

Yeeeeeah Microsoft has been under the impression that they're the only game in town just because corporate inertia favored Office.

But you fucking push somebody and they're going to realize Office-style software is pretty straightforward to make and there are gobs of competitors in that space.
The International Criminal Court is ditching Microsoft Office, saying it’s too dependent on US tech, in favor of Open Desk, a German open source alternative.

The move comes after Microsoft revoked ICC head Karim Khan’s email access when he was sanctioned by the US for the warrant against Netanyahu.

I'd guess that 85-90% of American scientists would be ineligible for future funding under this law, maybe close to 100% in the R1 universities. So much for funding proposals based on scientific merit.

Apart from being sinophobes, the people pushing this have no clue how science or higher ed works.
“The prohibited activities would include joint research, co-authorship on papers, and advising a foreign graduate student or postdoctoral fellow. The language is retroactive, meaning any interactions during the previous 5 years could make a scientist ineligible for future federal funding.”

The fact any of this is even being entertained shows what a pajama of a PM Starmer is. OK so he goes to court and sues. Where? The case will be thrown out in 15 min in the UK so ok lets say he gets a US court to demand that the UK state broadcaster pay him a billion. And they get it how? Invasion?

1) Many of the highest-risk conditions, like ME/CFS & Long Covid, aren't on the list

2) The best way to protect the vulnerable is to protect the population so others don't infect them

3) None of this accounts for Novavax which is not mRNA

Let’s be clear: This has NOTHING to do with the shutdown. SNAP already has strict renewal rules and almost NO fraud.

Forcing millions to reapply is a deliberate effort to shrink the program and leave families hungry.

It’s bullshit. It’s cruel. And it’s indefensible.
