Examples of "the best government that money can buy" are becoming more depressing. Ohio Republican Senator Jon Husted accepted more than $115,000 in campaign contributions from Les Wexner, one of 6 people listed as Epstein's co-conspirators, and then voted against releasing the Epstein files.

Campaign records show Sen. Jon Husted took $116,892 from Les Wexner since 2001, including months before voting to block release of Jeffrey Epstein-related documents.

This sentence will be repeated by courts supervising all the warehouses ICE is buying, more often than it should have to be.
Here is the meat of it:

"Defendants chose to operate a detention facility, so 'they must meet constitutional standards.'"

Discussion of one provision in Judge Brasel's TRO relating to the effects of the Fifth Circuit ruling — www.lawdork.com/p/fifth-circ... — that I discussed over the weekend:
In other words, long enough that habeas petitions can be filed on their behalf in Minnesota before they're whisked off to an immigration detention facility somewhere in the Fifth Circuit (where, under that court's current law, they wouldn't be eligible for a bond hearing).
Incredibly powerful opinion chronicling the awfulness in Whipple and the ways it interfered with the right to counsel.

One key part of the ruling (that ICE will likely appeal ASAP); Judge Brasel bars ICE from transferring anyone out of Minnesota within 72 hours of arrest.

The TRO, issued at 5p CT today, is to be distributed to every agent who works at Whipple and those responsible for Whipple's operations by 5a CT Friday.

The TRO is in effect until 5p CT Feb. 26.

The schedule for further consideration of the case is set forth below.

NEW: Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons told Congress today that local law enforcement in Colorado leaked word of a raid, allowing gang members to clear out of apartments.

Those apartments were being cleared out weeks earlier.

Tonight, ICE deleted social media posts with the claim.

Lyons made the claim about local law enforcement at a hearing this morning. His claims did not mesh with our real-time reporting in 2024 on when the apartments were cleared of many occupants. We asked ICE which agency leaked their raid. No answer yet. Then the posts disappeared.

Fucks sake. I'm not married. But my parents weren't married when I was born and my birth certificate has moms maiden name. It wasn't changed to dads until they got divorced and he got custody. Was a pain in the ass for jobs/school until I got a passport.
If you use your married name on official ID, i.e. Driver's License or passport, start now to obtain official documents of your marriage, divorce, name change for any reason from your state. You may need to take them with you in order to vote
Think proving citizenship is simple?

Ask any of the 21M+ married women if her birth name does not match her current name.

No match. No vote. This is voter supression.

Dear ICE - There is no statute of limitations for murder. Law enforcement, including ICE, does not have absolute immunity. Presidencies end. Accountability does not.
