This is, legally, nonsense from @darrenpjones.bsky.social . The rules-based order does not depend on states waiting for a Security Counsel decision or an international court. The United States has a Counsel veto, so the Counsel cannot validly judge the United States’s conduct.
Lewis Goodall humiliates Labour's Darren Jones who is unable to criticise President Trump for breaking international law by attacking Venezuela

Humiliating, pathetic, soulless - Darren Jones, what a let down

I assume Anderson Cooper is just now sobering up and learning about Venezuela.

I just have to know which committee counsel bro decided to ask Jack Smith (who has been a prosecutor since 1994) under oath about whether dedicated MAGA lawyers are struggling to find D.C. BigLaw jobs.

Jack writes--correctly--that the military abduction and extraction of Maduro "pretty clearly isn’t" legal. It plainly violates Article 2(4) of the UN Charter, which is the supreme law of the United States (per Art. VI of the Constitution) and, as I've explained elsewhere, ... [1]

They say “Austin’s gunman” and, you know, some people are saying “Don-stin’s gunman,” because, you know — and this is really important — law is really just the coercion of behavior through the threat of violence (very violent these people).
Watch this. Watch again.

40 people died last night in this coup. They were not “our troops,” but they were demonstrably in “harm’s way.”
Donald Trump’s unconstitutional military action in Venezuela is putting our troops in harm's way with no long-term strategy.

The American people deserve a President focused on making their lives more affordable.

This is what the Supreme Court should have meant when it held that §3 is not self-executing.
For nonlawyers, it’s worth noting that statements like this have—as a formal matter—important legal effects as a matter of international law. If such statements are *not* made, and in volume, future arguments that Trump’s invasion sets a legal precedent will stand on much firmer legal ground.
Norway’s Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide: "International law is universal and binding for all states. The American intervention in Venezuela is not in accordance with international law."

A new SSRN abstract plans out an article that will explain that bombing a country and kidnapping its president is a police action, technically.

Remember when we made a government that drives its power from the consent of the governed, and then the governed gave the war-making making power to our legislature? Those were the fucking days.

CBS News laid off 100 people to fund Bari Weiss’s armed-guard, private-jet tour of American cities. I was once moderately optimistic that I could keep finding valuable CBS content, but no more. John Dickerson is gone; Margaret Brennan should go. Removing CBS from the dial, sadly.
