I think it’s also true that loneliness among women has historically been treated as an individual problem, while loneliness among men is treated as a societal problem. That, in turn, comes from an assumption that women are supposed to earn the company of others while men are entitled to it.
men’s loneliness gets “more airtime”?

baby I have lived the past three decades of my life witnessing corporate media elevate men’s loneliness into a full-blown balls-to-the-wall CRISIS once every 4-5 years

“more airtime” is hilarious

and in this case the enemies in question have a very long track record of operating in bad faith

"assumption of bad faith" is the proper way to treat right wing complaints like this and I have a hard time thinking of a situation in which it was incorrect
Assumption of good faith is a solid heuristic.

But also "assumptions" are guesses you make before you have the evidence. You are allowed to retract good faith once more evidence arises.

But also, you shouldn't assume good faith from folks who are your avowed enemies.

Think about how so many people who were in power in the beginning of the post-9/11 forever war bloodthirst, are still in power. Over two decades later, zero consequences.

Same names, older and more wrinkled faces, still doing their warmongering thing.

Thread. “AI is patching up the holes in conspiracy theories and so making them seem more reasonable, making them easier to spread and more resilient to collapse” was not on my bingo card.

AI relieves the pressure of cognitive dissonance. That’s … not great.
Bellingcat’s contact email has always been a magnet for people with fairly unusual views; paranoid delusions, sprawling conspiracies, the works. But recently, the pattern has shifted, we’re seeing more and more emails clearly written with ChatGPT.

This reflects the most controversial aspect of the Danish scheme - the Jewellery Law. The toughest Labour MPs thought this was OTT

The obvious question: who's "we"? Williams warns it isn't the democratic we.

When I talk about the invention of "AI" as an attempt to manifest the Infinite Money God, this is part of what I'm talking about. Private equity achieved the ability to make money without a good or service—AI is the attempt to make money without even customers or employees.
