Agree 100% with Judah here, and also this headline is even more ridiculous since I've just watched Glass Onion again after watching the newest KO.

The only reasonable position is zero tolerance: the AI industry must end sooner rather than later. It is culturally, socially, environmentally, and economically destructive, and all the Silicon Valley marketing in the world isn't going to make it otherwise.

Pettiest? The moments of my life when I judge people the most are when folks automatically take 2 (or even 3!) paper towels right away to dry their hands with, and then ball them up half dry in the trash. What about using just 1 and taking maybe 5 more seconds of your life to use the corners of it?
Let’s air those grievances. I want to hear your pettiest gripes on this the holiest of days.

Here’s the thing: we don’t have to use AI. And every day we don’t, you preserve skills that other ppl are progressively losing.

We are also keep the tech bros from making money on this garbage.

And it’s eating them alive that they can’t coerce us.

We have the power to ruin them.

Here's the thing. This isn't about trusting the voters or some other buck-passing bullshit.

It's about what SFWA and who we want to be as an institution and its members. What do we, as a whole, value?

Spoiler alert: it's not thievery machines.

We instead let the excess of billionaires brute force the technology to scales and use cases it could never responsibly support. They've poisoned the well so deep I don't think trust could ever be re-established.

Yes BUT it is a marketing decision by NWS to tout its new ML algorithms in an era where AI means everything and nothing. It carries so much baggage as a term and so much connection to billionaire bullshit with the tech company shenanigans going on. It's a choice to use that term. A bad choice IMO.
