This is valid of course, but somehow I'm thinking of Kyle Rittenhouse. A child who brought a murder stick to a place he didn't understand, didn't belong in, and should not have been, who was valorized a hero because his victims were "those kind of people."

To slightly elaborate, regular cops are *trained* to be able to kill and get away with it. I don't suspect them of valuing human life, but they have a whole lot of training on how to get away with murder without causing a PR nightmare. There's a reason Floyd's murderer's conviction was extraordinary
It's of course valid to say that the USA has a long history of murdering its citizens (and foreigners), but there are still levels. This? This is like just one step tamer than straight up putting random people off the street against a wall. Absolutely horrifying.
